Jack Dearden/radio Manchester

Ok everyone thinks the same and cannot understand the stubborn persistence with formations.

there is only one thing we all want to know and that is WHY??????????

Jack Deardens job is to ask the questions.

I don't believe he hasn't got the guts to ask

I don't believe the question isn't at the forefront of his mind( as he has been sat next to Alan all game saying the exact same).

Clearly he has been told no questions are to be asked about formations.

Its the only possible reason why he is not being faced with it.

I am guessing that Coyle is not accepting any invitations by the BWFC supporters club at the moment for same reason....he would be drilled!!

Good point

Listened to the Coyle post match interview on way back and I was just hoping he would ask about why Muamba didn't make the team (was told that he was late but only 5 minutes)

Probably right he has either not got the balls or has been given instructions not to ask the obvious

I was in the press suite after the game. Martinez did about 15 minutes and was very eloquent. OC did about 3 answered only one question and plainly had watched a completely different game to the rest of us. By the way - the question did not surround the missing players or indeed any formation (or lack of)

I have no issue with Coyle for dropping a player because he was late. But dropping a player doesn't stop you playing 451. It does amaze me that folk seemed suprise that Coyle chose to play 442 at home against Wigan. The only good thing to come out of it is that if we can't get a result against the bottom team in the league playing that formation then we're not going to do it against any other bugger.

That, in itself, is totally damning.

Can't agree, Undies. You don't shoot yourself in the foot by dropping a player your best formation depends on; you find an alternative disciplinary measure.

And I think we all know that 442 with KD up front is a disaster against any team, even outside the Prem ....... unless it's our rare lucky day.

That gives every fooker the right to turn up late if you bend the rules for one. Coyle got it right and Muamba needs another alarm clock.

how did he get it right

coyles job is to keep us up

losing against wigan doesn't help

weeks wages in fines and 9-5 all week

much more suitable

Exactly. His top priority (we assume) is to keep us up. Yes, that involves squad discipline, but it's NOT his top priority and discipline can take many forms.

Right Fabrice after the game you will bend over the ping pong table for being late :jump:

I thought the same about the JD interview, disappointing. Also, Coyle appears to be getting quicker and quicker at pointing the finger at individuals to deflect pressure away from himself. I can't help thinking that if the real reason that Muamba was dropped was because he was late I reckon Coyle may well have alluded to it.

Shropshire, if you are party to the inner secrets of the press conferences, are you not allowed to ask searching questions?

potentially Micky - although I don't get to many Wanderers games these days covering Shrewsbury mostly. This was my first game since the semi-final. Not a lot had changed. But inside of 15 minutes, I thought Wigan would win comfortably and they did. If I could see it (and every other hack in there could see it not to mention 21000 Bolton supporters), then how come our manager couldn't? We didn't so much have a purple patch - more a lilac one for about 10 minutes over the 90. The points went where they deserved it pains me to say. I think the questions that tend to get asked by the Sundays are usually along the lines of: "so Owen, how disappointed are you to get gubbed by the bottom side in the division in another 6 pointer?" It tends not to get any meatier than that more often than not and yesterday most had a can't be aresed attitude - including me

Amazing.

Great to see that contrary to popular belief the Fourth Estate is alive and kicking ...

He's resisted the urge for most of the season. Maybe he's just getting tired of players not listening when they're told who to mark at a corner for example.

His gripe with Wheater was not that he hadn't picked up his man (he had) but that he needs to 'do better'. I think we can all agree with that but it does leave Coyle more open to criticism. So, not only does it break the taboo of singling out individuals for their errors but it also makes him look even more stupid and out of control.

My point was regarding whether the reason Muamba was dropped was this turning up late thing. I am sure he would have been daft enough to give that reason (under intense questioning conditions ..) if it were the case.

...and yet a few weeks ago we had people on here saying that they were sick and tired of Coyle straight-batting questions away and refusing to criticise players in public.

do you not find fishing boring?

Possibly, but that's not been my personal view.

I think some time ago I questioned where this nice guy image comes from because it has struck me for some time that whilst he may be loyal to SKD his treatment of other players has not been 'nice' and regarding the press he has always been quick to congratulate himself and condemn others.

TBH, like I said on another thread I dont think he himself knows what he thinks (but it's positive).

When he starts talking I am reminded of the description of ex player being 'an out of control speedboat'. the fella just sets off and I am convinced he doesn't know himself where he will end up.

Muamba being late, just gave Coyle the excuse to drop him, the hints had been there all week that he was going to go back to 4 4 2 and there are no prizes for guessing who would make way. Be an interesting team selection next week, first of all the formation, he's too stubborn to revert to 4 5 1 so it will be 4 4 2. If he criticised Wheater then I guess he will be the one to make way for Ream, though personally I think it should be Knight.

Of course Coyle got it right. Muamba or at least the club rules and guidlines to cover this sort of thing were wrong. International coaches and managers up and down the country drop their 'best' players all the time for fecking things up on and off the pitch. If you want a weak mananger as well as a shite one then tell him.

deardon responded to me on twatter saying the question was asked of coyle re his selections...but due to air time it wasnt aired on t'wireless.....he said it will be aired on gmr sport this week....

so, to be clear

you think losing against wigan but disciplining muamba will see us finish higher in the league than if he'd played muamba yesterday

(all assuming he was actually late and thats why he didn't play)

fact is, if the teamsheet at 1am said he wasn't playing, its nowt to do with him being late

just coyle being a clueless cock

To be clear, no one knows what his team sheet was at 1pm. And to be clear again, if he was late, Muamba is a dick.

to be clear, gonzos dad knows

and muamba wasn't on it

and seeing as you're not clear, and i'd love it if you could be, do you think dropping muamba increased our chances of staying up

if i can figure out how to do it,il get a picture on here of the teamsheet....

and a picture of my face at 1:08pm when my dad rang to tell me the team....

to prove early it was,i was still in fucking blackpool when he rang.....
