DazBob Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 I think no matter what method you choose you're (and mine) success or failure depends purely on how much you WANT to quit. Unless you;re 100% determined to quite you'll never do, regardless of whether you use patches, willpower, inhalers, etc. I've quit because I simply can't afford to be forking out £200 per month on something I get no benefits from yet plenty of negatives. That's as good a reason as I need. Quote
DazBob Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 A word of warning for you e-cig smookers ... especially if you're Wetherspoons dwellers... http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/9884319.Elaine___s____fuming____over_pub___s_dummy_cig_blow/?ref=mc Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 So the "cold turkey" method wasn't exactly successful for you then? - and how can you say it's the easiest way, when your attempts to stop have failed? Stopped for 7 months, wasn't a problem. Started again really because I wanted to. Quote

kent_white Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Quit about 18 months ago. Had smoked for around 20 years at about 10-15 a day. Gave up cold turkey but made sure I was in the right frame of mind first. That's half the battle. Can honestly say there isn't one area of my life that hasn't improved as a result. More money, a damn sight more healthy, don't stink, can enjoy a beer or a meal without having to nip outside for a cig every 10 minutes. Have lost weight 'cos I can now do more, sleep better, more energy. It's basically the best thing you can ever do. Smoking seems alien to me now. Can't imagine ever putting a cig in my mouth again. If you're quitting, keep at it. If you haven't, stop thinking about it and just do it. The withdrawel is nowhere near as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's generally the NRT manufacturers who are desperate to make you think you can't do it on your own. You can. Just enjoy it! Quote
