Trouble is most of em are on other side of fence in some woodland. No idea who owns the land. Copper nail in the roots?

Any branches overhanging your property; just remove them. If they're mature, you'd have to make sure there is no TPOs on them Alternatively, just fell the sods when no ones looking and deny all knowledge if owts said
