We've just had our yellow street lights swapped for these energy saving white ones. I must admit I quite like 'em.

I agree! We had ours changed last year and I must admit, they are are a lot easier on the eye. (unlike my Mrs these days)

Had em on my street for about 6 months. They do the job and save shit loads. They are led lights I think. Winner

They've done us today. They're like floodlights on acid, I hate them & I imagine our local friendly owl does too. Certainly not wildlife or star gazing friendly.

They're supposed to be better in terms of light pollution in that the light is directed downwards - not all over like the orange ones.

 

I've just had a quick look and from Halliwell I can still clearly see Uranus.

they must've put the wrong ones in here then as it's brighter than the macron with full lights on. I'll go and have a toot in half an hour and see if they've calmed down any. It might be because they're new, maybe?

Right, Ive been for that toot. You're right, Kent, they're directional so the light just goes down. It's quite intense though and feels like daylight out there, but yes, the sky looks right enough.

I've not asked the owl, I don't think he's up yet.
