September 29, 20178 yr Eldest daughter , jumped a mile last saturday. Mooching round her back yard, thought she would empty mop.bucket . Found it contained a massive toad ( doing lengths). After calming down, its now called Bernard.

October 1, 20178 yr Neighbours told us yesterday they've just had to replace a full conservatory because ants had eaten the timber, hollowed it out. Slugs all over out garden every night and morning but thankfully never in the house. Snails regularly up the wall or door.
October 1, 20178 yr Snails !!!! Frontdoor at certain times of the year is swamped by them. Dont seem to do any harm. Bernard update , now lurking by back gate. Ready to pounce. What to Toads eat? Its a big bugger , obviously not starving. Would not have thought the back alleys of Willows lane were a natural habitat.
October 1, 20178 yr Went out the other night when it was pissing down. Came across three toads on the path, presumably flushed out of their hiding places. Good for pest control, so build some wood/twig piles or a few rocks piled up for winter. Same for hedgehogs. They love the slimy buggers. Edited October 1, 20178 yr by Tonge moor green jacket
