Company Car Advice

Just started with a new company and will have to choose a car in a few months time

Mrs Manc doesn't run on 2 star petrol so need to save the pennies where I can to fund her lifestyle

The car in my mind is a 2-litre Audi A4 quattro diesel estate

I want the four wheel drive as I'll be travelling up to Scotlandshire, the North East and over the M62 in the winters, and I want the estate so that I can get the mountain bikes in the back at the weekend

The list of choices is pretty much anything (benchmark price is Merc C Class 300d)

Anyone any thoughts on what might be better than the Audi? Will get reimbursed on a pence per mile basis so I need summat with a good mpg and not like the Ford Kuga that I had a few years ago that had the aerodynamics of a wardrobe and cost me me every time that I drove it

Really liked my Passat, good car with all the gadgets you want ran all day and hood mpg.

Love the XE I have now. 72mpg down to Sleaford today. Handles ok ish in snow. Got most free add ons of anything that was on the list. A3, CL200 etc.

Had a Mondeo Titanium X before the Passat, prob my favourite of the 3, superb car

Why did you prefer the Mondeo?

I’ve got the XE, loved it until the baby came along in March, it’s now completely useless

I always knew it was tight in the back but the space really is a joke, getting a baby car seat in is painful

Fuck all chance of getting a Pram in the boot either

I hope some fucker torches it so I can pick another before the lease runs out in 2 years

The difference in finish will be reflected in the difference in price tbf.

Absolutely!!! And to be clear the finish is still very good

Had a go in a Lexus RX today - petrol hybrid version - very, very nice - with the mileage allowance he gets he makes about 13p/mile profit on it and reckons that profit covers the tax he pays so in effect gets a free car. However.........he only gets about 300 - 350 miles out of a tank of fuel which is shite - I'd be filling up almost every day at that mpg!!! Why do these SUV's have such small tanks?

Laws of physics. Lighter they make the car the better for fuel economy

You'll get 500 out of an IS300h and they're much more fun to drive
