League 1 - What’s your verdict?

Must admit to being quite impressed at the standard of football in Lge 1 this season.

Even some of the chaff at the bottom ie Crewe, Doncaster etc at least try and play football, we’ve not seen much hoofball at all.

Having said that, it seems to be the direct, physical sides with a decent striker and a hefty dose of shithousery that succeed, like Wigan & RovRum.

Overall what’s been your verdict on Lge1 and do you think IE’s brand of football can see us promoted next season?

Given our results against the top sides, we didn't deserve playoffs.

Finished strongly, without always being scintillating, and maybe some strengthening still required.

It won't be easy next year; don't think anyone is convinced it will be, however some optimism is definitely justified.

Without a doubt we should be optimistic. Can’t afford to have an off month.

With the impressive firepower of Dion, Bakayoko,Bodvarsson and Dapo - it's hard to be anything but optimistic.

Tighten it up at the back and we'll be there or thereabouts..

Horwich, you predict doom and gloom almost every season.

In the last 10 years, have we not had that?

Didnt predict doom and gloom this season. We did as I expected.

I am just trying to say it wont be as easy as everyone expects next year.

Folk are expecting promotion.

Can see what you're saying - that the expectations will be higher next season and therefore it may be less enjoyable if those expectations aren't reached.

However, those expectations aren't without logic/reason. We have the best form in the league since mid January and without the atrocious winter spell, that was a combination of covid, injuries and sarcevic drama we probably would've made playoffs this season.

Not unrealistic to expect that we have a positive and exciting season, as long as we are more fortunate with injuries and keep playing the same way that we have done since January.

Obviously it won't be easy, there's a lot of teams that have the same goals as us but I think we have more than a decent chance of having a better season than this one, which wasn't all sunshine and rainbows anyway despite a strong finish.
