2.7 Billion Bribe
I certainly wasn't as clear and concise! But this is what worries me, people making judgements without the facts - I'm critical of the G'vt for many things but voters en masse are like headless chickens jumping from one assumption to the next. the Tories are not promising tax cuts yet - I'll be surprised if they do even in their manifesto. I still believe they will get in because this country is ripe for the next political cycle . Just be careful what you wish (or vote) for.

Sanity returns. As for the Tories saving our skins for fuel their current line is 'looking closely at the fuel tax issue', but it is too 'early to say if the 2p increase in fuel duty should be delayed.' Now pretty sensible thinking there, Dave I must admit, which is why the G'vt are risisting calls from their own backbenchers in cutting the 2p increase.

So hands up here on the board who thinks most G'vt enjoy the current oil problems because of tax?

I made that assumption based on the majority of your ramblings, not just one. I see nothing here to disprove it. Enjoy the Tories, you seem a good fit to be ruled by effete toffs.

yes we do pay a higher tax on fuel duty than any other country in Western Europe - and have done for years during Tory and Labour G'vts. The fact is the G'vt isn't making any more money off fuel duty now than it was 6 months ago.

Now I know you aren't the sharpest political tool in the box but I'll spell it out again - the hike in oil prices has got tit all to do with this g'vt, or indeed most g'vts. The OPEC countries are refusing to 'turn the taps on' for more oil because they are scared of having a surplus. GB is currently arguing that OPEC can't continue to operate as a cartel, holding us to randsom. Tories, Labour, Libs even that air head who was Miss Great Britain couldn't do anything about the price of oil. Clear?

The Cretins At Bolton Council...
Actually Unions were started as a force to represent the workers against the capitalist bosses, pretty far from 'commies' but I'll allow you your little ill informed rant. On the whole agree and I voted for the abolition of Clause 4 and for the reduction of power of the Unions over the Labour party. I do however, think your point is a little bit simplistic, but then this is WW. Unions are not there to help the 'bone idle' but to ensure that there is no explotation of the work force. If this is used by skivers - as sometimes it is - then Union reps have a responsibility to at least hear the case from the Union member but they are not beholden to take sides but offer support and representation.

The Cretins At Bolton Council...
That's putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5. Yes Unions can have a strangle hold and can be difficult. No sympathy from me for people like the London Transport Union - a lot of them are in it for their own power and influence. But the priciple of giving a voice to those who need it I still believe is valid. Unions have a place.

Anelka!
Just driven from Crawley to the south coast to my office and counted twenty or so college students/yoof with Utd tops on. The Sussex/Surrey red will be out in force today!

Difficult this - hate Utd BUT hate supporting a London team. I think its living down south just can't bring myself to side with southerners!

The Cretins At Bolton Council...
We send out thosands of pieces of print/DM shots - this sometimes happens when you clean your database through companies such as QAS, they will give you gone aways and indeed, the dead. Although they are always 100% spot on if you pay a good company to do the data clean, sounds like someone at the council made a presumtion based on age - pretty risky!
