It's just a deadline for loan signings that has now passed. The fact clubs can terminate a players contract by mutual consent, and then we can sign a free agent, effectively means we could sign anyone at any time going forward.

and the Barnsley career was also under Keith Hill I think - so he does seem to get the best out of him. Seems to be getting back on form at Oldham, 6 from 23 equates to 12 over a season. We haven't had a striker score over 12 for many a year. Kevin Davies got 12 in 2008, but we've struggled to get a striker into double figures since then. EDIT: no, Keith Hill had left Barnsley by then.

Senior career* Years Team Apps (Gls) 2003–2007 Leicester City 24 (1) 2004–2005 → Notts County (loan) 9 (0) 2005–2006 → Rushden & Diamonds (loan) 22 (4) 2007–2008 Rotherham United 51 (13) 2008–2010 Oldham Athletic 13 (0) 2008 → Bury (loan) 6 (0) 2009 → Bradford City (loan) 2 (0) 2009 → Stockport County (loan) 18 (2) 2009–2010 → Rochdale (loan) 24 (15) 2010–2011 Rochdale 66 (16) 2011–2013 Sheffield Wednesday 51 (9) 2013 → Barnsley (loan) 16 (6) 2013–2014 Barnsley 40 (15) 2014–2017 Brighton & Hove Albion 31 (1) 2014 → Sheffield United (loan) 4 (1) 2015–2016 → Nottingham Forest (loan) 21 (2) 2016–2017 → Burton Albion (loan) 26 (1) 2017–2018 Chesterfield 35 (2) 2018– Oldham Athletic 23 (6) Only 13 goals in the last 5 years for Chris O'Grady. Although his best rate seemed to be the spell at Rochdale when Keith Hill was manager there, so he knows how to get the goals from him.

Rotherham's a good trip on the train, as you have to change at Sheffield which has the rather excellent Sheffield Tap built in to the station.

It's true that Anita has had his contract terminated by mutual consent so he must be off somewhere... https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/25441/vurnon-anita-departs-leeds-united-by-mutual-consent Both midfielders though - are we going for a 2-7-1 formation?

Transfer Gossip
Lots more rumours, but hardly any for strikers. We need a goal scorer more than anything to get on the end of the crosses from Verbinden and Morais.

Transfer Gossip
Looks like Joe Bunney is next, it's been confirmed by Northampton he's had his contract terminated. It's worth remembering that although we've done crap in the Championship 3 out of the last 4 seasons, our year in L1 we walked it, so building a squad to get out of the relegation fight isn't going to need Premier league quality - crap championship quality should do!

2.30 mystery signing is... Will Buckley.

Transfer Gossip
Yeah I know I know. It actually says this. If it turns out to be true, someone on the inside is updating wiki pages.. On 2 September 2019, Murphy joined Bolton Wanderers following the termination of his contract at Nottingham Forest. He signed a two-year deal with Bolton Wanderers following their recent takeover.

Just looked at Daryl Murphy on wikipedia and it says he plays for us.. Daryl Michael Murphy (born 15 March 1983) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a striker for League One club Bolton Wanderers.

Next manager
Bit of a mixed bag when you read his wiki.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel_Pearson 14 away games without defeat when he took charge of Hull sounds good. But total lack of info for recent stuff. 2 years in charge of a foreign club then sacked doesnt fill me with confidence.

When Dougie Freedman came in, with a couple of January loans and no money, we went from bottom half to edge of play offs, unbeaten at home from then. And he was shit. Decent manager and a couple of signings, we'll easily get out of L1 relegation zone...

Gillingham away 31/8
We signed 3 players on Saturday morning vs Coventry somehow. Or was it Wycombe
-
Next manager
That would probably get us out of league 1 but we'd need to buck up once promoted!

Sky Sports News ticker says Hobbs signed today and Jimmy Phillips expects 3 more signings before kick off???

Which would be perfect. Allardyce and Nolan joint managers, Sam withdrawing after a bit

Transfer Gossip
We announced 3 new signings on a Saturday morning at the start of the season due to special circumstances by the EFL. Any chance that still applies?

And 11 pages onto this thread and not one person has suggested a return for Big Sam. Just curious why not, he's available isnt he?
-
Next manager
I just popped into the local bookies to ask for Next Bolton Manager odds. He said they've been told by head office not to take bets on it till 9am tomorrow morning when the market will open.
