I don't know if anyone on here, i assume so, went to watch us play Chester City away (last match at Sealand Road for us) when Phil Neal was in charge. He played in defence and was subject to some awful abuse from the Wanderers away section. 'Phil Ne-al, your're a wanker, you're a wanker' was the cry. Phil just shrugged it off in the post match interviews saying it was 'water off a duck's back'. Not once did he call the crowd pathetic or make sneering comments about the fans. A class guy who laid the foundations for the Rioch era.

I dont think most people expected that when he took over in the poor position they were in. There were some decent players (apart from Diouf, Anelka, Nolan, who were crap of course!) , but now the squad is threadbare and lacking quality. Survival now is the main aim.

Wrong actually. I wasn't blown over by his appointment, but thought his previous teams playing style would suit us after LSL tried to drastically change things. I felt sorry for him when his first game in charge he scuttled quietly to the dug out, thinking he wasn't popular. For about 3 or 4 months he did well, but since then i don't think he's the man. After 18 months no progress has been made and his relationship with the fans is very poor, so if you're content with whats on offer, good luck to you.

Great post. Why is it that any poster with a small number of posts thinks Megson is shite and no good for the club yet established posters seem to have a disproportionate stubborn view that he's doing a great job. Not having a go just making an observation

I'm talking about the one's he was in charge of!. If you exclude Sammy Lee's matches , then Megson got 32 points from 28 games last season, he's now got 41 from 37. Therefore his points per game ratio is lower this season, how is that progress?

We've got a less points per game ratio this season than for the games he was in charge of last year, so where is the bit more?

How long have you been going to matches? you don't remember the abuse dished out from the Burnden terraces, to players, managers etc?. It's part and parcel of the game. What i don't like is the way Megson uses it as an excuse for poor performance, the fans are reacting to what they see.
