Guest Blixa Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 That bastion of all truthful gossip, the Mirror, claims we're trying to push through a deal to re-sign Nolan on loan in time for Saturday's game. Surely not? Please....surely not?

Carlos Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Great bit of business though. He'll be hungry (and I don't mean for pies).
Guest squidgy66 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Might cause some politics though. Surely he wouldn't be able to get the armband back without proving himself? It was good business when we sold him. I'd take him back for 2mill. Probably the usual Mirror foundationless article anyhow
Guest Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Scored and assisted tonight http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...astle-loan.html He's scored more than we have this season
Guest squidgy66 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...astle-loan.html He's scored more than we have this season And http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...p;ATTR=Football And http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/9...-targets-Nolan/ Although you've gotta laugh at him in that deckchair Was he on ?45k a week with us? Thought it was more like ?35k?
waffer cup 07 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Found his level in championship. I don't believe story for one minute.
MickyD Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 He was sold because he dared to question GM. Stiensson and Jlloyd were dropped for exactly the same thing. Moral is, don't f?ck with GM if you're merely a player. I have all of the above on good authority.

If that's true, how many points has Megson sulking with Samuel and Steinsson cost us so far this season?
Guest Blixa Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Well, as all the mornings have gone with it, you have to presume some substance. Agree with the 'found his level' comment, although he might bring some newly-found confidence in his game along with him. Doesn't exactly fill me with excitement though, especially if he's the only midfield arrival pre-deadline day. If he's in addition to a 'passer', might be reasonable business.
Guest Blixa Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Am I right in thinking we've just signed a new pie sponsorship deal? Could the two incidents (that and Nolan) be connected?
Take Hunt Off Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I think this might happen, the spin regardiing us spending 6-7million on a 'creative midfilder' has been going on for six motnths through two transfer windows. to me this is just spin & nothing else .The club won't spend another penny in this transfer window & the usual excuses will emerge, All we can expect at the most are couple of eleveth hour loanees (rasiak2 maybe) & KN might just be one of them. I don't blame GM for this as the purse strings are controlled elsewhere, but the club should be more honest about the financial situation & tell the fans to what extent they are servicing the ?56 million debt.
Guest Blixa Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Just to play devil's advocate, why did we offer money for Bodde the other week if that was the case?
Casino Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 In other words his man management skills are poor beckham and stam might agree with you
tonyw_bwfc Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I'd have him back for ?1M then play him as the attacking midfielder - see if he can re-capture his best days when he could actualy score the odd goal. Add to that, what he would bring in the pointing / shouting departments and the fact we would have banked ?3M for effectively 'loaning' him for 6mths and it would be a good bit of business. As for other signings, I am still hopeful that we will manage to pull a couple of decent rabbits out of the hat but I have always been a bit numb where the Wanderers are involved
tonyw_bwfc Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Why's it ?56 million now? Interest maybe? I've no idea of the actual figure at the moment, I'll wait for the next set of published accounts and have a look at them Ultimately, you never know with these things - yesterday I heard on the news that the arab bloke had bought Portsmouth for ?60M and agreed to take their ?35M debts on board, then I heard he's paid ?10M and took their ?25M debts on board. The most surprising thing is that they still in debt having sold a load of players in the last 6mths.
onlyoneawalker Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 If we bring Kevin back it will be through pure desperation we are seriously running out of time in this transfer window, I'm sure we'll have targets but with opposing clubs having little time to get replacements it's looking like our best hope is on shite loanees - please Eddie let me be wrong and dig deep son!
Colonel Mustard Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Please God fkin hell no. I thought it was generally accepted he'd had his best days with us, and had spent the last twelve months adding very little value. Why this would change after a stint at the comedy club is beyond me. This story is bound to be lazy journalism but for f*ck's sake let's take off the rose-tinted specs and look forward. No doubting what the lad did for us in his pomp but we need creativity, someone to dictate the tempo of games, and GOALS. Nolan would give us none of that...

Well, crazy journalism doesn't usually come with a Megson quote confirming it...well, an approach at least. Agree with the rest of you post though, we need someone creative for a modest fee. Not asking much is it?
JimmyRiddle Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 This story is bound to be lazy journalism but for f*ck's sake let's take off the rose-tinted specs and look forward. Apparently not, they quoting Megson in the MEN stating he his interested in him!!! This club is going to the dogs!
