  1. Hold on, it'll be like those glass bus shelters continually being smashed. Nice little earner for the repair company.
  2. Well said Frank. When i put forward the proposition to judge Allardyce on the whole of his final season, i'm rubbished by people on here and told you can only take into account the post Christmas period when it was 'relegation form'. (Casino take note) So how do we judge managers, 10 games?, a carefully selected period ?or a whole season? . Make your minds up.
  3. Still qualified for Europe over the season Newcastle were in 11th when he left, lot better place than now Blackburn had 12 points from 17 games i think when he took over 2nd bottom, now on 34 points from 33 games. Bit of an improvement don't let facts get in the way.
  4. You are correct on that score love. It ain't rocket science.
  5. You completely miss the point. Yes it was broke when he took over in the sense that Sammy Lee tried to change it to 4-4-2 total football. Megson went back to the tried and trusted formula (4-1-2-3 formation under Allardyce), hence getting back to the way it was, what the players were comfortable with.
  6. Ok i'll compare and contrast. Allardyce = direct , effective football, low on entertainment but ultimately successful Megson = direct, ineffective football, low on entertainment but ultimately unsuccessful The model is the same but the results quite different, hence the poor mans terminology. Is that ok, Cas?
  7. Are you Megson's brother emigrated to Oz? just voicing an opinion as i want what's best for the club. For your information , contrary to popular opinion i thought he was a decent short term appointment when he got the job. His 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' and 'pegs in the right holes' mentality contributed to us staying up after the Lee debacle to a certain degree. But the best he can be is a poor man's Allardyce. You and i both know that he ain't here in the long term (god willing).
  8. sorry, but that's horsesh*t. I'd say both of them make the same amount of out of position errors, but i'd give Hunt the edge with attacking delivery. Plus we looked more of a unit with him in the side. Do you remember those days when we were euro challengers? Must have been on the concourses with your brain pickled with alcohol
  9. Makes ?2m for Shittu look good value for the rough and tumble clubber.
  10. Yes that's correct, still a better defence though. The full back is currently injured, as footballers tend to on occasion. You're very stubborn in that devil's advocate role.
  11. Well said Traf. I'd still rather have Hunt Faye Meite Gardner over our current back four. Megson has spent over ?7m without improving the defence overall. The midfield's been weakened and we have a ?8m flop up front. Not good use of funds IMO. There's a few about who expect a better showing with that outlay.
  12. now you're selective to suit your argument. Why don't we take one game out of the 10 which we lost , and say 1 point from 38 would be a good season as the points/games ratio (1/38) is better than (0/3) .
  13. You mean after we were 3rd? after beating Portsmouth at the end of 2006. Very selective aren't we . You're telling me a side capable of 3rd position mid season that tailed off 'dreadfully' to still achieve UEFA qualification, was basically a load of shite . Do me a favour.
  14. Depends on what you think he took over, a) a decent squad capable of a euro challenge, when judged over the previous years. or b ) a 5 points from 10 games team , selectively judged over a short period of time. I'd go for a)
  15. It's going to happen sooner or later that Megson will go, so why not bring it forward and save us all a load of pain. The board's done ok so we'll leave that intact. You're not that loud woman who screams her head off not far from me in the North Lower are you?
  16. 18th defeat in 33 games. Can't keep a clean sheet for toffee. Progress my arse. Time for the ginger clown to go .
  17. Probably because we've lost the X factor. Back to a survival club with a bland journeyman manager to be honest. That's our new image i'm afraid. Plus the new strips awful and makes us look lower league.
  18. Fat Sam is overrated and our success i believe was more to do with Gartside. We've got a far better manager in place now basing his strategy on signing quality Englishmen. Cork and Wigley are two of the most underrated coaches in the game. I can't possibly see how things could not turn out ok.
  19. Did i say it wasn't a comeback? i bet you suffer in those logical reasoning tests for job interviews.
  20. Blimey, we're 4-0 down , Chelsea take Lamps and Drogba off and ease up and suddenly it's the greatest comeback since Liverpool in Istanbul. 17th defeat in 32 games isn't good enough.
  21. Agree totally, i'm not a Megson basher, he's signed some good English players (Taylor, Cahill top drawer) , but i squirm when he's on tv going on about us being tiny Bolton all the time. I think his PR is a disaster and contributes to why so many fans can't stand him.
  22. Ok that's your opinion but does it annoy you when Megson always does us down? You'd think we were Stockport or Grimsby. I see anti Megson types are seen as negative on here but isn't Megson negative himself. Irony there.
  23. Rather than pick on a newcomer, how many points a season is success in your eyes?
  24. No , you miss the point, you've selectively mentioned certain players. Why've you missed out Jussi, Gardner , Davies, Nolan, Anelka, Diouf? . My point was on the quality of all that was inherited.
