FFS, Allardyce's philosophy was to get points at any cost. Those players were available and he did amazingly well to sign them and they worked. When the signings dried up, his philosophy was the same - get points however we can, and it still worked, just not as prettily. Sam Allardyce did very well for Bolton Wanderers. But Bolton Wanderers did very well for Sam Allardyce too. He's gone, move on.

Bought FIFA when it came out and although it looked great and had all the licences... just found the gameplay to be boring, too slow. Got PES on friday and it's the opposite - doesn't look as good, doesn't have all the licences but the gameplay is much quicker and better. The be a legend mode is top too

Yes. The players are all good enough to play at this level, they've all played at this level or even higher before and alot play international football. They are on the pitch, they should take some responsibility if they aren't doing their job properly.

I was agreeing that the players are the ones who have to take chances. If we were taking the chances, perhaps the manager wouldn't be taking as much flak.

I think you're right. I think Davies/Elmander would've burried O'Brien's header, but they weren't there and they didn't. A million different permiatations, a million different things could've been different. But they weren't. Just offering an opinion that to say an opponent would be easy because they've lost a player and replaced him with a hardworker is not correct, he's nowhere near as good granted, but he does cause problems of a different variety.

Are you actually stupid or just a wind-up merchant? I said Roberts did a job that was effective, not that he was a better player. Read. I said that just because Santa Cruz wasn't playing did not mean it would be easy, as Roberts offers something different - he's shite, but he puts alot in. I'd love a player like Santa Cruz but when my team is in the trenches away from home in the pissing rain and I'm after a point, I'd rather have someone like Kevin Davis who i know is gonna chase every ball and batter every centre half than a foreigner looking for a move - he's not on top form anyway like last season anyway.

I'm not 'blindly' defending either Megson or the club. I don't think Megson's right for us and would love to see Coyle or Sheridan in their - young managers who appear to be playing good attacking football, both with BWFC connections. I just don't blindly slam Megson/BWFC for anything that doesn't go our way. There have been plenty of shite matches and much shite football for years, at least with Megson I see more than just patch-and-fix "he'll do for a year" methods of squad assembly. I like the fact he's bringing in younger players, and building a solid foundation. I think his next step is to take the solid foundation and confidence in defending and push on, and I think he and the players know this is all part of a plan to build something - why else would anyone have signed? I might be wrong, I hope I'm not.

To be fair, from his angle it was a nailed on penalty and he's said he'll have a look at it. To the law, a challenge from behind is a foul whether you get the ball or not. If that's in the area, it's a penalty. If that's the last man, it's a red card. Not necessarily Styles' fault if that's his rationale for the decision.......

I'm saying, to say because they didn't have him they were 'there for the taking' is rubbish, cus he wouldn't necessarily have won them the game. In a game such as asaturday, I think he would have done nothing - a nice big move on the horizon, he aint the most physical of chaps - compared to Roberts, who runs all day - and that's what type of day/game it was. All this "Blackburn were there for the taking" is complete muck. Cus they didn't have Santa Cruz and Reid? We'd've been better off if they had Santa Cruz, does alot less work than Roberts and would do bugger all after a kick in the rain with a move to Massive on the horizon. Again, Reid isn't a grafter and we'd have had more of the ball if he was playing. Blackburn are in the same boat as us and are a tough team to beat, especially away from home. 4 points from 6 is a good return from those two fixtures. A good chance to get 6, granted, but fcuk me it could be alot worse. Don't think it matters who is in charge or what football we play, Bolton fans will bitch and moan for something. Didn't say Allardyce or Megson were set up to get draws - they both set up not to lose, there's a big difference. The 'Stars' were no longer available, Allardyce himself said those kinds of transfers don't happen anymore. Before anyone says "Geovanni" - he was great at Citeh until it started getting cold - that's why no-one else took a gamble on him, you really think he would've chosen Hull over anyone else in the Premiership? See above. Those players (Djorkaeff, Okocha, Hierro, Campo) are not available on frees anymore. Allardyce struggled at the end because he couldn't sign those kind of freebies. Whether Megson would is irrelevant. Megson is signing younger players than Allardyce ever did. He doesn't sign foreign shite like Blessing Kaku for the sake of a backhander (allegedly). Megson has managed to persuade people like Matt Taylor and Gary Cahill to choose us, so he must be doing something right when it comes to selling his 'vision' for Bolton Wanderers.

and Allardyce did what? the problem is, 14/15 other teams in the Premiership do this also. Therefore, it wouldn't matter who was manager, our first priority in a game is to get at least a point, and the first priority for the season is to get 40 of the bastards.

No they don't. Merson is the first to say if we're crap or if a game is a dog. I'm not saying it's a blue sky and life's great, I'm just saying it could be a hell of alot worse. We've had a great few years and now it's gonna be a tough few years. Megson or anyone else isn't going to make that any different.

That's exactly my point Zico - I wasn't there and I'm asking the question - Merson watched the same 90 mins you lot did and saw improvements, so why haven't the majority on here? Has it got to the stage where no-matter-what, Megson will not get a word of praise - because no-one wants him to improve things, just to say "told you so"? That's what worries me, the majority of fans are now happy when we fail, just to be able to say they were right.

Personally, I can't - I wasn't there as I play on Saturdays. My point was, if that cockney clown can see something good, why can't we? Again, we win at West Ham and it's cos of the players efforts... we don't win and that's because of the manager. We beat Madrid because of the players, we stayed up because of the players... but it's Megson's fault we didn't beat Blackburn or West Brom. Is it Megson's fault Taylor and O'Brien missed good chances? I've said from the start, I don't think Megson is the man long term, but for the short term job we needed/need, he's as good as anything else available to us. I'd like to see a young manager with BWFC connections (Coyle, Sheridan or ideally Brown), but for that to happen we need a solid foundation - and I think Megson is the man to provide that.
