  1. Finally we agree. That is my point. when the mega-rich fcuk off elsewhere, there will be no money in domestic football. I would quite like to have a few years of premiership money in the bank when this happens.
  2. I said I enjoy proving people wrong. I do. that is not the sole reason I want to be in the premiership, but one of many. I do not 'care' about pundits, I do not lose sleep if someone doesn't like Bolton - I'd be a fcuking insomniac! I didn't say anywhere i prefer 'drab, dull, defensive football' - I said I would rather be scrapping in the prem than scrapping in the championship. By scrapping - I mean, in the shakeup, in the position to be in the premiership in the first place.
  3. Entertaining the fans will not and can not ensure the survival of the business though, staying in the Prem will. Without the business, we have no Bolton Wanderers. I'm not arguing, I agree we are not entertaining and I'd love to relive the days of Johanson and Thompson bombing up the wings.. BUT football has changed.
  4. Again you aren't reading my posts. You asked for reasons why I'd rather be in the prem than the champ, and I gave you them. I did not say that was my goal in life or why I like football. Would you like me to type in French/Italian/Spanish for you instead?
  5. Tyler Durden replied to a post in a topic in Terrace Talk - 'Classics'
Why don't we just write to Arsenal and tell them to save the petrol and they can have the 3 points eh
  6. It's a business. Business is about making money. To make money, you have to be in the Premiership or be in the Championship with a very low wage budget. I dont like it, I'm not a fan of it. But that's the way it is.
  7. I agree completely, it's shite that this is a goal.... but that's just the way football is. Look at Leicester, Leeds, Southampton, Coventry. I'd rather be in our shoes than theirs. If there was negligable financial difference between the two, then of course I'd love to be winning promotion and winning most games - but today money talks, and I'd rather have a chair under my arse when the music stops.
  8. Because I'd rather the club was earning ?40m a year than ?8m, because I'd rather see players like Elmander, Cahill and Muamba coming to us rather than Rob Hulse, Rob Earnshaw, Lee Carsley etc. Because nothing beats the joy of being an underdog and beating one of the big boys Because I love being slagged off all year by the 'experts' and then sticking it right up their arse in May That's why.
  9. I didn't say it did, read my post. I put it in a list of positives that have happened under Gary Megson. I am positive, I am a realist, not rose-tinted. I am not a fool to think that surviving in the bottom 8 every year is realistic for us, from where we've come from and the way the game is going, for a club our size that is success. I'm sure 72 teams would swap with us to be scrapping in the bottom 8 of the 'best league in the world'. There are the top 4, then you got Villa, Spurs, Citeh, Newcastle all with billionaire owners. So that's the top 8 places gone MOST seasons. So it is really failing to be in the bottom 10?
  10. The way football is going with billionaire owners and such, I can't see any manager making that much difference to take us beyond bottom 6-8 - so would we be sacking a manager every season? Bolton are a championship club with championship crowds - our best ever season we avgd 25,000. This is as good as it will get for us unless someone in Bolton becomes a billionaire. Personally, i'd rather be scrapping in the bottom 8 every year in the Prem, than scrapping in the top 8 of the championship
  11. Because we got loads of points and did really well that first half of the season..... As for Elmander being a crock - ffs. He's only been here a month and got one injury, he's had a good fitness record the previous 10 years of his career so hardly Darren fcuking Anderton is he
  12. So anything good that's happened in the last 12 months (beating Man Utd, drawing in Munich, beating Madrid over 2 games, staying up) was in spite of Megson..... .... and anything bad was because of him? Cheers, just so I've understood you right. and as for your point about the Newcastle game - when we played them the fans were backing Keegan at their first home game. Hull played them when 52,000 were chanting to sack the board, hardly comparable. We've not had a great start - neither have Man U, should they sack Ferguson?? We've got 4 first teamers to come back or settle in (Cahill, Elmander, Riga, Smolarek) - judge things when they've had a run. Ferguson has no backup for Ronaldo.... has he put a shite squad together? No, big player out, has to change things and settle for 2nd best for a while. Decent players who could play 1st XI premiership football will not come to Bolton to compete for a place in a squad of 25 other similarly-talented players, it will not happen, we aren't big enough. I remember Merson saying last summer "I can see Bowlton gaarin frew 3 or 4 managers very quickly". I truly hope the c*nt ain't right. For the record, I don't think Megson is the right man for the job, never have, but I'm prepared to support him AND the players until I think he's had a fair crack at the job. That for me is November.
  13. Yeah, I'll bet Leicester fans loved the open, attacking and free-flowing football that took them down into League One
  14. We haven't won at Fulham for god knows how long. Its a shitter to get beat, but Megson's done nothin Allardyce wouldn't have done. I don't know what the expectations are of Bolton fans. It's always going to be a scrap for us, that's just the way a club of our size is going to be. Which manager would come here and do anything different? Phil Brown is playing the same kind of football at Hull for a start. John Sheridan? How long would a new man be given to build a side? Nothin is going to change until January, and a crowd on their back isn't going to inspire much. If we're in the shite at Xmas, then I'm all for change, but if we want to build something, it's going to take time no matter who's in charge. Sammy Lee tried a different approach and we all wanted him out in October, Megson's gone back to what worked and we're all moaning again. Too many Bolton fans dying to say "I told you so" and hoping we fail, to do just that.
  15. Well if he's not doing it in training or reserve matches - how is a manager meant to risk playing him in a team/system that relies on a water-tight midfield? When he played his first game against Sheff Utd in the cup - everyone on here was slagging Megson off for playing him cus he had a nightmare.....
  16. Exactly. Managers/coaches saw him every single day and didn't think he was worth playing. I think Megson et all are in a better place to judge than you or I
  17. My prediction.... Megson will get slated for something whether we win, lose or draw We'll get battered for 88 minutes and win 1-0, Nolan withe the goal
  18. Once again, the average working man pays for everyone else to be comfy while getting fcuk all back.
  19. 1-0 Nolan, followed by a Ketsbaia-esque 'celebration'
  20. Chuck in a cheeky ?2m bid in january
  21. I've got Virgin with Setanta for ?42 a month (inc broadband and phone). Was ?80+, I rang em up sayin I'd be switching to Sky unless they beat Sky's price, they beat it. Happy days, and all the Gaelic Football you can handle!
  22. Scouse loyalty? He didn't just have a fight and punch someone. He blindsided and hit from behind, then repeatedly hit the lad when he was on the deck - all of that he admitted in court. That's more than being a "rum'un", esp when he's now been convicted twice for effectively the same thing. He should've got years for it, fortunately for him this country's justice system is on it's arse.
  23. You probably wouldn't..... what happened to him (went to court, pleaded guilty and got suspended sentence in view of already serving time) is would happen in 99% of cases. Unless of course it was his umteenth conviction (conviction not incident!), in which case he would've got more jail time. In this country, unprovoked violence rarely gets more than a slap on the wrists for first couple of offences, over-crowded prisons and soft-as-shite magistrates to blame.
