Play rugby at our place is one of the worst shouts I’ve read on here. No amount of money could make me want to be that tinpot.

    I've got a better idea.

We'll tell this Danson if he wants to buy the ground on it's own we'll chuck him a bit of pocket change and have the B Team play there. Problem solved all round.

If Danson decides to buy the club and takes them over it would be a proper result for them.

    Would it though?

Seems to only be interested to keep it viable for the Rugby Club to stay in the ground. Sensible businessman, can't see him bankrolling them beyond their means, can only imagine they find their natural level of sustainability.

I suppose at this point, just having a club is considered a result for the sensible among them, but for most of the muppets I'm sure they'd seen flitting between League 2 and 1 as below them.

    Maybe moeen will be tempted

Seems to be the way they're heading but I'd be disappointed.

Not played red ball stuff in a very long time, and when he has previously been smashed all over the place by the Aussies. I'd have been tempted to either go without or call up an actual county FC spinner, doing something like this essentially sends the message that they may as well not bother playing in the hope they get a call up.

See Lukas Jensen has been released by Burnley. Thought he was really solid when we’ve played Accy. Good age, relatively low wages I would assume. Decent fit?…

Didn't we have him on loan in League 2?

    I'd be fine with that.

Also, Johnson Clarke-Harris been made available by Peterborough, if that fee is anything under half a mil I'd be all over it. Him to finish the chances, Dion to do the hard yards, might be a pipe dream cost wise but it'd put us right up there as favourites.

  5. I haven't read this anywhere at all, just going off our previous tendencies, but Liverpool have a young Northern Irish keeper that needs first team experience...

Liam Hughes, 21, 6'4", absolutely stinks of an Evatt GK move that does.

Wouldn't be my preference but it has been a hole currently in our recruitment finding a permanent option in net, and looking at potential available options for permanent solutions, I think another loan is likely.

Aaron Rodgers to the Jets is completed.

This is going to go tits up in a spectacular Jets fashion isn't it.

I'd certainly like to think not, really were only a QB away last year from being very good, could argue that even average play from QB we would have been an 11/12 win team.

I think it's a bit more than I would have liked to give up, but there is talk of the contract restructure situation being very favourable for us so the slightly steep trade value would make more sense.

If nothing else though we have the most talented QB in franchise history, despite his age, with a point to prove on a team friendly deal and a commitment to play for at least the next two years with the same offensive coordinator that had him winning back to back MVPs only a year ago. That alone is reason enough for me to be positive going in to the season.

Rodgers will be this season's Russell Wilson.

If the move does happen I don't see him being anywhere near that level of bad.

He's the type of guy that will go with a legacy point to prove, with an OC that he likes that had him winning back-to-back MVPs 2 years ago. His efficiency as well suits the current playmakers on the Jets, they all get open quickly and regularly, it's as good a fit for him as he could hope for at this stage and with a defence that has proven it can win games on its own.

Aaron Rodgers is a Jet 😁😁😁😁😁

@bolty58 always said he was a good un

    Somehow he still actually isn't!

We live at the mercy of a weird, hippy, ayahuasca tripping, Hall of Famer 🤣

  9. Unfortunately feel like it's going to be a dreadful season yet again. Next to no competition, the midfield isn't even particularly interesting, real lack of personalities anywhere to even make it intriguing for individual battles.

Red Bull comfortable 1-2, Aston Martin a solid season to come second with Ferrari and Mercedes shooting themselves in the foot for another year.

I'd like to see more done to give us some parity, rapidly losing viewership if people I used to speak to about F1 are anything to go by.

  10. Free Agency starts today, as a Jets fan this has always been my favourite time of year, Free Agency and the Draft is our Superbowl.

Hoping for a third straight year as Off-Season Champs.

No reason not to start with the back 3 and WBs that ended on Saturday

I suppose the only issue is having Geth or Toal at that LCB position does slow down our ball progression a fair bit, purely because it's just not as natural for them to open up to receive the pass and advance with it.

Another left footer for cover has been a need since Iredale got injured. I'd argue we could do with another CB still with that in mind to make up for the Aimson departure. Ideally a permanent signing of an older more experienced player.

  12. 3 minutes ago, nantwichwhite said:

Iredale seems more of a natural centre half. Aimison a better defender than Santos but he creates so much when bringing the ball out of defence, makes us tick.

See, I actually think we play much more effective football out from the back when Santos doesn't play. That carrying out from the back he does causes the game to slow down too often and the opposition gets set into it's low block, Aimson moves it either to wide channels or through the midfield and we transition quicker.

  13. Happy enough with this one, Luton fans sound gutted he's going, did a job for MK last time he was in League 1 as well.

It'll do well for the second half of the season, and that Adeboyejo in as well I'd say that's an overall improved strike force.

  14. I can't find where I saw us linked firstly, but I believe it was from some Chesterfield fan site claiming that we were in for Tshimanga.

I'd be very happy with that, lad is quick, powerful and has an outrageous return even for that level.

I'd still think if he was to come in we now need another still to replace Bod, ideally a similar target/pivot type.

    best individual performances

diouf at brum - nolan last minute winner, i think

    okocha at spurs

    jussi at hull

A random individual performance that always sticks out in my mind is Steinsson against Bale when we beat Spurs 4-2 the week after Bale had just torn apart Inter/Maicon.

All eyes on Bale, sure it was on telly and Steinsson rocked up cool as you like, pocketed him and scored himself.

Another random Right Back performance I thoroughly enjoyed was Joe Riley's debut against Stoke in the league when we beat them 5-0, he looked incredible and then got torn apart by Jerome Thomas a week later and barely got a look in again.

Yeah am sure the weather didn't help

It was heading for the first 0-0 at half time since 2019 till bills scored

Then it took about 5 mins of the 2nd half to see the first snap of the game in the red zone!

Jets played a risky game at the end going FG then after a TD, probably should've gone for 2 point conversion then FG

    Not that it mattered

As for the NFC East, strongest it's been in years, with NE bottom

    Unheard of for years

Yeah I really didn't like the decision to go for the FG, been a bit underwhelmed by our play calling in the Redzone in general since Mike White took over at QB. Almost like the OC is calling the game a bit scared, which is unfortunate because White is clearly an upgrade right now.

Unfortunately, Pats are no longer bottom after last night, Jets find themselves last despite arguably being the 2nd best team. Which, I suppose, just highlights the quality of the division.

  17. Record wise it is absolutely, I meant more in ability terms.

A lot more subjective obviously, but I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find 4 teams all as good in a division this year.

NFC East has the benefit as well of being in an absolutely dreadful NFC Conference, wins to be had all over the place.

    And another

    8/8

    Does this happen often?

Two good defences in dreadful weather never does produce thrilling games.

Getting a bit dicey for the Jets now to make the playoffs, 2 or 3 games in a  row that at the start of the year you'd have thought were easier, but all of them either on good runs and turning a corner or never were as bad as thought.

    Detroit (H)

    Jags (H)

    Seahawks (A)

I'd still like to back us for the 3 wins to leave us on 10 wins for the season and a huge game vs Miami to close it out.

Typical though that the year we're good is the year we're playing in the best division in football.

    Trafford in goal
Bradley and either of Beck or John as wing backs
Jones, Santos, Johnston central (or Iredale if we're needing height)
    Dempsey, Morley, Sheehan
    Dapo, JDB, Sadlier

    Subs
    A keeper
    Iredale/Johnston
    Lee
Charles and any 3 from Kachunga, Bakayoko, Williams, Thomason

I like your thought process here but for me you can't drop Charles or MJ for me so I'd go

    Trafford

    Jones, Santos, Johnston

    Bradley, Dempsey, MJ, Morley, Beck

    Sadlier, Sheehan, Dapo

    Charles, JDB

Quick question - am sure someone on here will know - came up in a recent conversation

Apart from Liam Richardson (Wigan ) what other ex Wanderers players are current Managers in English football and indeed in other Leagues internationally ?

Gary O'Neil still in charge at Bournemouth for now I believe

  21. Not going but I'd field a relatively string side here, need to get some momentum back.

I'd play as many first choice forwards as are up to it, need to get them bagging and this game a good opportunity for it.
