  1. If they’re using a centre back for throws, that’ll be less threat in the box. Let’s counter by leaving players up.
  2. Or stop loaning out our young backups. I know it’s the 5th tier, but both Sam Inwood (backup for Johnston) and Charlie Warren (backup for ACD) have received very positive reviews, but been unavailable to us, when needed. We need Category B status, to allow the likes of these two to stay with us, and have a competitive U21 fixture list, to keep the squad backups match-fit, developing and, most importantly, available when needed. I’ve probably veered from the match thread!
  3. Port Vale was wholly attributable to an awful team selection by Schumacher. Simons and Erhahon in midfield! Apter on the left!!!
  4. The only problem with this analysis is that it misses the root cause of the problem. Not 4 at the back, not Johnston, not Conway, but Eoin Toal going wanderbout!
  5. It’s been 10 v 11 from 3 o’clock, with McAtee. Hopefully, people will stop putting him in their suggested lineups, and we finally get rid of him.
  6. Almost two complete seasons and “still to see”. Exactly. Sell in the summer. Others have him in their teams for tomorrow!!!

    Run-in

Can’t be right. From what I read, it’s all the crap defence and, especially, George Johnston’s fault.
  8. ACD has missed the last 11 league games. Furthermore, he played every minute of most games, where a few 15 minutes off may have helped. I’m not sure Schon would have been an option, but he’d have had a lot of minutes, as backup.
  9. The City of Stoke has a smaller population than the Borough of Bolton. It’s the smallest settlement in England with two league clubs. Can it really support two big professional teams?

    Injuries

I’m torn on this. I agree his passing, crossing, shooting and general decision making has been shocking. However, he does seem to put the wind up opposition defenders, get in the right areas and create time and space. This is a big half the of the battle, and it’s possible that, tomorrow, three or fours crosses/shots end up in the net. if we’re replacing him, whatever with, it must deliver. While he’s creating as many as many opportunities as he is, there’s always a chance it will click.
  11. I’m sure he’ll have some input; telling Fergal and team what type of player he needs, reviewing what it proposed, etc., even if he doesn’t negotiate and sign-off on the deals. However, regarding this season’s signings, I believe we only brought in Jimmy Dickenson, as Head Of Recruitment, after all last summer’s (permanent) signings were made/agreed. Add to that the need to massively manage out the largely unwanted Evatt signings, it might be that this summer’s dealings will be the acid test of the recruitment team.
  12. I think I’d sooner have Ultras wearing gimp masks, than have something like Delilah as an anthem!
  13. And wouldn’t play him at left centre back, which he’s done very well for Hibernian.
  14. I’m not sure if this a wind-up! In just six appearances (three of which were as a substitute), he’s already moved to 4th (level with Burstow and Erhahon) in the number of assists by a Bolton player, this season. He’s also scored a goal. There are already signs that he’s creating a potent partnership with Dalby that I, for one, think is exciting. You ask him to get the levels of McAtee. With considerably more game time (eighteen appearances), McAtee has delivered just two goals and a paltry single assist. I certainly don’t want Kenny to aspire to McAtee’s woeful returns. McAtee can join Randall in the departure suite, at the end of this season, while we should try, once again, to sign Kenny.
  15. Yet again, Erhahon is hooked and Sheehan controls a recovery.
