NAC Breda (H)

Don’t know if their fans will travel in numbers for this, but this was at Norwich last season. Brilliant.

Anyone told them the fan march to the ground from the town centre is 6 miles? That's a lot of side to side bouncing.

Well we have given them all ESL and the Fan zone

Hard to look beyond this being our (or very close to) starting 11.

Not only for this game, but probably more likely Sheff Wed and Preston.

Not a lot of wriggle room, especially with the front 4.

Maybe Conway for Famewo, Watson for Simons, AN other for Dong…

Still a lot of quality recruitment needed to get us competing.

The one positive I can see from such a predictable line-up, is that they will be fit and firing to go, having played so much together in pre-season.

And if they bond together with a few decent results (Sheff Wed/Preston/QPR/Lincoln) it would be a great confidence booster.

Just had a look on their website. They had an allocation of 3000, but tickets are still on sale.

Didn’t count the dots.

Aye.

I also think the Spaniard will play.

I’m mixing up 3 games here, but thought I’d keep in one thread.

As for Saturday, there will probably be more mixing it up, so yes minutes for Lorrazbel would seem right.

As for our current best starting 11 there’s a few toss ups. Watson/Simons is one of them.

Just Simons for me. Bit of champ experience, knows and links up well with Sheehan and Rodrigues.

Think Watson could be a slow burner, will hopefully grow into the season. Maybe even one for further down the line

am hoping break and pre-season will get Simons back to a level he was showing at the start of last season, if so, no issue with him starting

big season for him though, definitely needs to push on and improve

Hospitality tips

The recommended meeting location for Friday evening is Shambles Square in Manchester. Several hospitality venues in The Printworks have since closed. Therefore, it is strongly advised to direct supporters to Shambles Square. Wearing football shirts is not a problem in local bars and restaurants.

Saturday (evening) in Bolton

Nelson Square, with the following hospitality venues, among others:

  • The Swan

  • Barristers

  • The Venue Bar

  • Hogarths

  • Level Nightclub

should be sending them to Balmoral and Old Man & Scythe

That is one weak as piss team.

The back line aside there's only Dalby, Sheehan and Ruben I'd want anywhere near our starting 11 v Preston.

At last somebody with a little sense.....That team relegates anybody in the championship and may get top dozen in lge one

Why have they got a picture of Alf Garnett on a flag?

4 miles, same applies though 😀

  • Level Nightclub

That’s probably 90 percent of the pubs in the centre now .what a dump

That's only Gale, Dong and Simons you don't want starting then.

I don't think many would disagree with the 2 wingers being iffy for this level - so far, obviously too soon to judge Dong.

A bit harsh on Simons, he's hardly terrible and we aren't likely to sign an upgrade this month. The least of our problems, its wingers and strikers we need (as is the common consensus).

The defence isn't going to be hugely different.

Whether it's weak is piss or not will be determined in the coming days.

A midfield two of sheehan and simons worries me.

Defensively they aren't the strongest.

at least one opinionated poster had Gale as the first name on the team sheet at one point last season

fwiw, i think he gets a lot of unfair stick

gale, that is, not the poster

I agree about Gale.

I get he can carry himself a certain way that people don't warm to, but he's clearly got ability, and I tried to point out towards the end of last year that he's played about double the amount of games last season than he ever has before. With no winter break and an injury in there as well.

I think he's got plenty to give even at a higher level, I would like some strong competition for him but if he's got to start then I think there's still other areas of the team that worry me much more.

I'd put it quite a bit higher than the least of our problems. Simons was barely deemed good enough to play in L1 post-January. Our record with him on the pitch from November to the end of the regular season was terrible.

He's young so I'm not writing him off forever, but it has to be a concern to have him starting games in the Championship.

Magdeburg lot did this as well didnt they, on that random midweek afternoon "behind closed doors" game?
