The power of mandela

Featured Replies

By the same token I know of a white millionnaire South African who was found guilty of murdering his wife but escaped the gallows after a deputation of his friends later lobbied the judge. After his release from jail he came to the UK, applied for British citizenship but was consistently refused because he was not of good character having murdered his wife. Sir Laurens van der Post late mentor to Prince Charles went to see the Home Secretary of the day and lo and behold he was granted British citizenship.

It just goes to show how corrupt these 3rd world countries are. The same countries we give millions to and wipe off their debts etc

Don't think SA classes as a 3rd world country.

Feck me. Some of the townships I saw on my way through the Kruger area (Mpumalanga) were pretty piss poor. Corragated sheds with bits of bin bags for walls - and these where the posh houses!

I found it hard to believe that after visiting Sandton (which is like Beverly Hills and very, very rich) - to see the poor quality of life in black areas of the country.

The politics of this country are so complicated. I had a good insight from mate out there. He told me a lot.

7 richest men in SA are black. Basically every company, organisation, whatever has to have a token black person involved to meet with government directives. Because of this, many white companies have literally just employed black guys in CEO and MD positions. Hence the 7 guys who are very rich. They are each CEO of over 50 companies each. They know nothing about their roles in these companies. But get a huge whack of cash for heading them up.

A number of elite blacks are now the richest in the country. The whites are very, very comfortable whilst the majority of the blacks are very, very poor.

This is the plot of the new Silence of the Lambs film, set in Leigh.
