Friday at 16:054 days What a load of fucking bollocks.Looked in to this as our fixed price deal was coming to an end. Looks like a no brainer, 8p kw/h during the night. But then they absolutely bend you over during the day with 35p kw/hRan all my numbers and even with 15k miles a year (which is way more than we'll do) couldn't make it to pay.Ran it through chatgpt for a laugh. Told me it would work if I boiled my kettle and cooked all my food after midnight. Fucking AI

Friday at 17:004 days I’ve got a plugin hybrid and Mrs has full EVCan’t remember the numbers I got quoted but came to the same conclusionAt least one of us is WFH every day so the daytime costs would have been enormousJust chose decent standard tariff

Worked out it costs about £4 to charge mine for about 40 miles of battery. Had up to £3.50 rebate on their most generous offer
Saturday at 06:223 days I pay around 35p/kwh for leccy anyway. If I was to go on an ev rate, then the day time rate would be higher! On the face of it, that doesn't sound too bad!I don't use an ev set up though, as my mileage is bugger all.
Saturday at 06:293 days Just checked again- got it wrong, around 22p per khr.Bastard standing charge is the twatty bit.
Saturday at 06:463 days Who are you with Mick?I've just reviewed and renewed with octopus.New 12 month fixed tariff has seen electricity go up 2.8p/kwh, but standing charge fall by a similar amount.Likewise with gas- unit price increased by standing charge fell.God knows why, but I've snapped their hands off, given what's been happening in the world.

Saturday at 10:443 days I'm octopus agile, when is cheap, or free (like it is from 12:00 to 14:00 today) I charge the car and also top up my batteries.I've found this tariff by far the cheapest, but it probably only really works if you have some level of battery storage
Sunday at 15:372 days I’m on Eon wife’s car only does about 4k a year charge it once a week didn’t bother changing the tariff not noticed any difference with the bill so doesn’t seem worth the bother . Just tried to charge it at some pod point charger at some retail park in Middlesbrough slow as fuck be there till midnight rate it was putting it in had to put credit on there app before using it so that will be on there for ever and a day won’t be using pod point again
Sunday at 16:432 days I'm on Octopus Intelligent Go. Full EV and paying about the same as I did before I had the EV car. So all my car fuel is "free". I do about 10k a year.If they have "spare" electricity in the daytime, it charges the car at that time (as long as it's plugged in obviously) and the rest of the electric in your house is charged at the 8p per KWH at the same time. Yesterday presumably because there was massive surplus's of solar power it charged between 1700-22.00. Still got cheap house electric overnight for the 6 hours as well. We just put the dishwasher on as we go to bed or on the timer, same with the washing machine. Edited Sunday at 16:432 days by TrickyTrotter

Word for word.In the summer I can do 5 days commute on one charge so literally costs me about £4.50 for the full week rather than the £30 it cost in petrol. Big chunk of savings that pays towards the car loan each month.

You should find it cheaper per kwh than a fast one too.

Last 3 cars have been mid-sized SUVs. Gone from petrol to self-charging to plug in. Saved a fortune on BIK as it’s a company car but fuel costs are so far down it’s incredibleAnother thing I’ve noticed is when I charge the car it say I’ve got 43 miles battery. From here and back to my mums in Bolton is 38 miles. Used to get about 33 miles. I now get the full trip with a couple of miles to spare. Seems like the battery has improved with age?

Did Burton and back no problem on a nice day, but when it was colder we had to charge by Keele on the way back!
Yesterday at 10:261 day Air con doesn't use as much power as a heater.Next time round, I'll make sure the vehicle has a heat pump instead of a normal heater.
Yesterday at 11:111 day I’ve got a heat pump. Not sure what difference it makes, a few miles per kWh I guess.Wet roads as well as cold weather impacts mine, the friction I presume. But did manage a 330 mile trip to Cornwall last December on Boxing Day with one 20 min charge at Michaelwood and arrived with plenty of miles/kwh for the next day.
Yesterday at 19:311 day Cold weather will purely from using the heater/blowers and wipers.I once had to do a course about driving for efficiency, in a mondeo. Apparently, I'm naturally geared that way, nevertheless with the heater and blowers on, on a cold wet day, the fuel efficiency dropped quite a bit, irrespective of driving style. Not just evs that suffer.
13 hours ago13 hr Talking of EVs, I'm in China at the minute, and we stopped off at a roadside charger....they're all Government subsidised here (so I'm informed) it costs next to fuck all to use them. Fast charging up to 500km in about 15 minutes, for well under $2, No wonder about 50% of the cars here are EV - our "public" chargers are a fucking rip off, some up at well over 60p/KWh, which might well put people off if they can't charge at home

The superchargers are amazing (both here and there) no fucker wants to plug into an 11KWh system when they're out and about, we need 400KWh+ - although, as you point out, our infrastructure isn't up to it
