pb i understand where u coming from, but going into the new season with less than 25 players in our squad is not a good move

Still a month to ago and would imagine Big Sam has some gems lined up for us !

This team got us into Europe why now are we panicking? For years we've contented with Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool and, ok we've took a few beatings but sometimes we come out on top. Do you really think we will meet teams as good as the previously mentioned in the EUFA cup?!?! =;

Stan - I don't expect them to storm Europe. But we've got 3 strikers already and was it worth spending ??1m on someone Sam knew nothing about? Pompey signed Yakubu and are hoping this guy will be as big a success - but it's a gamble and Allardyce doesn't like gambling with money.

 

I'm just sick of people moaning on every Bolton site I've looked at, you'd think we'd have sold Ben Haim, Okocha, Nolan and Jussi with the way people are going on.

 

We have little money, but we've got the best English manager in the country in charge & he has proved he can do the job without a massive chequebook. So get behind your fcuking team

Agree with you there Pb..however we DO need to sign some more decent players for Europe, our squad is too thin, and for us to compete successfully in europe (hopefully), then we need more players so that they can come in and do a good job if for example, Nolan gets suspended, we need a decent midfielder to come in, fill the gap, and do a good job.

all we need is a decent striker for now someone to get us 20 - 25 goals a season look at all the chances we created and missed last season, we will do bugger all in europe next season if we dont go out and spend 4 - 5 million on a goalscorer benni mcarthy would be perfect with diouf and stelios crossing the ball in. apart from that sam knows wot hes doing and he wont let us down has he ever b4??

For as long as I can remember Bolton fans have never been happier unless there is something to moan about. Remember the letters in the Buff during the dark days? 5K average gate, losing at home to Shrewsbury and Mr Notcomingagian from Ladybridge writing that he???s never going to get a season ticket again because we've just lost 0-1, his pie was cold and there was piss running down the terraces. Now that was something to moan about.

 

6th best team in the land, Europe beckons, Carling cup finals, FA Cup semi???s, pre-season friendly???s live on Sky and we???ve got/had Okocha, Diouf, Campo, Hierro, Djorkaeff, Passi in the famous White shirt. I???m not condoning it but i do understand why people are moaning, people are scared shitless of failure.

I think a lot of the moaning comes from the fear factor of again achieving what we did last year. I (again) will be content with anything above 4th from bottom, from a club with one of the lowest resources in the Premier, that would be mega.

 

Must admit myself though the feeling of hitting a 'glass cieling' in terms of our position of 6th. Maybe this is as good as it gets, did we all make the most of it???

what is the "won't be able to compete in Europe" malarkey? 3/4 of the teams entering that competition are not fit to lace Nicky Hunt's boots. And FFS its our first trip in the competition - doesn't mean we have to win it outright at the first time of asking. A round or two will be suffice for me.

 

I still think a nice trip to the new Wembley next May should be Big Sam's priority. We opened the old one, we should be there to open the new one.

 

Like I've said twice already, lets wait until January before panicking about the size of our squad. Come 1st Jan this year some of us actually thought we were going to be in a relegation dogfight. We didn't bring anyone in but still managed to have a bit of a cup run and reach a UEFA berth (just missing out on CL qualification).

 

If we are still in the UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup come mid December - then thats when the club needs to consider scouting and then spending on new talent.

 

But if we win fck all next season and stay up - I'll still be happy. Because every now and then, teams like us have a bad season and drop out of the division. And we all know how difficult it is to come back and what financial implications it would have.
