just looked it up on Nigel Sheppards site - 13 years ago since we last visited and won 2-1 thanks to Browny and McGinlay.

I went once we drew 0:0 - which was an obvious result as we needed a draw to guarantee the play-offs and they needed a point to guarantee that Cardiff got relegated

I'll have wild guess your compromising situation was with Daffyd.

I remember the PA guy there annoncing that Stoke had beaten Grimsby or something similar and we thought we had automatic, but the sheep sh??gger had it wrong.

 

They were chucking bottles at us from one of the roundabouts after the game that day too.

 

But to cap it all off, some Bolton hoodlums broke my old man's flask. He was most upset - it was his 4th that season.

It was wasnt until Dave Higson was leaning out the coach telling everyone the Grimsby correct score that we knew we hadnt gone up!

The second time, i think it finished 0-0 and most of the Bolton fans chucked pennies at Spazzy Darren for 90mins

What a downer that day was when we heard the wrong result. I remember the Vetch with that prison just round the corner and all the cons hanging out the bars giving the gary neville sign.

I remember being "approached" before the 0-0 game (last match of season). 4 big meat-heads - built like brick shithouses. "Can we have a word with you around the corner boys?". Errr...... "like feck".

2nd time was the aforementioned "have we won promotion or not" game. Brilliant turnout from Bolton - remember one of the first pubs as you arrived in Swansea, not far from a roundabout, many many Bolton were in there drinking. No signs of trouble.

After the match it was a different story - it kicked off like feck outside. Remember a huge car park with running battles on it. The cons hanging out the windows.... and the long walk to our car. Once we got in it we had to negotiate a few sets of traffic lights. Now then, there was 6 of us in an MG Rover Vandenplas (small thing). We'd taken the parcel shelf out and it was my turn to sit in the boot area. Worse still the radiator had gone on the way down and we'd put an egg into it to get us to the match. We weren't sure how far we'd get on the way home.

Anyway, back to the traffic lights. Mobs of Swansea all over the shop. They spotted us in our car and presumed correctly we were Bolton. Can still vividly remember a lad with a house brick running up to the car and missing the window but hitting the window frame - it dented but the window didn't go threw. Amazing! Our driver didn't hang around and we mounted the pavement and skipped the lights to get away before the rest of their mob trashed our car with us inside it.

Car broke down a mile or so later and a few of us caught a lift from some Bolton lads in a box van (quite sure Mr Bear was in the back). Spent the evening in Neath were a near riot erupted!

Last time I went was the one near Xmas - went with a coach from Walkden but got their late - so probably avoided any trouble. Spent most of the game on the fence at the front!!

 

Cannot tell me football has got more enjoyable than trips around the 3rd and 4th divisions.

Went there once , first match of the season. Turned up three days early and pitched a tent on a campsite near the motorway exit. Drew 1-1 and it kicked off afterwards as well.

Was wrking in Cardiff and got picked up by some mates for an evening game (early 70's ?) Ended up the following morning being dropped off early doors at the Derby Street/ High Street junction near my mams

I was there night match for Neil Whatmore's debut, he scored twice, biggest cheer of the night was when they served the evening meal in the prison

I've only been to Swansea once for the 0-0 draw that got us in the play offs.

An odd number of us went on the coach and i was the one who sat next to a stranger.It happened to be Graham who didnt spend much time spotting coaches but told me tales about the winter of '62.

 

Bolton didnt play a home game between 8th December and 9th March and the 3rd Round cup tie at Sheff Utd wasnt played till March.

There are a number of programmes from the 62/63 season that go for ??50 upwards (not Bolton).Mainly London clubs up north...this is no doubt due to not many Cockneys getting to the games and taking programmes back....i thank Graham for describing the weather conditions of that winter which caused the programme scarcity.
