Thoughts for Blackburn on Sunday

Featured Replies

Dear Wanderers Ways members,

I am a representative of an unofficial Blackburn Rovers website, blueandwhites.com.

In a regular pre-match feature, ???Reversed Reflections???, we ask a selection of questions to fans of the opposing team to gather some thoughts and feelings about the forthcoming fixture against Blackburn Rovers.

We are looking for willing volunteers (people who don???t mind their answers to be published on another site) to fill out the following structured set of questions in a reply to this topic, and then the best answers will be collaborated together into a news article that will appear on Blue and Whites a day or two before the fixture takes place.

Thanks in advance and good luck for the rest of the season,

Danny,

1. Bolton have two points less than they did this time last season, but in terms of performances have you continued your impressive form at the end of last season into the start of 2005/06?

2. Rovers have an absolutely dismal record in Europe. How far can Bolton go in the UEFA Cup this year?

3. How is it you can turn that fat slob Kevin Davies into a decent Premiership player?

4. If England came calling right now do you think Big Sam would take the job on a permanent basis?

5. Being an unfashionable northern team yourselves like Blackburn, how frustrating is it to see the southern-based press brand both our styles of football as route-one or over aggressive?

6. Any favourable/unfavourable past memories of Bolton vs Blackburn games that stand out in your mind?

7. There will be plenty of controversial characters on show at the Reebok on Sunday, but which individual (from either side) should have the biggest influence on the outcome?

8. Mark Lawrenson, the football expert that he is, is going for a 1-0 home win - agree/disagree?

1. We have started the season well and deserved three points against Everton as well

2. I think Bolton can reach the Group Stages without embarrassing themselves

3. Kevin Davies has been a fantastic success story under Big Sam, his work rate is excellent and deserves a chance in the England squad in front of the lad from Charlton

4. Yes

5. Not frustrated at all because we are getting the points on the board

6. I remember a master class of wing play by Noel Brotherston when he was man of the match against us at Ewood Park once, but the greatest memory is Franky Worthy scoring at your place when we won promotion to the top flight ('78 I think

:-k )

7. Brad Friedel

8. Agree that we will only score one goal if Friedel plays to form

1. Had a perfectly good goal against Villa disallowed and we created enough chances to have buried Everton. All-in-all we should have 12 points now.

2. I think we will progress through the group stages - and then its anyone's guess.

3. Davies works hard for his team-mates. He is not an overpaid prima-donna like he probably was at Ewood - his salary is more in-line with his ability now.

4. Yes - why would he not.

5. Don't care. In fact it was Graeme Souness of Newcastle that started slagging us off followed by David O'Leary of Aston Villa. But it riled me that when Chelsea played long ball in a Champs League match the TV pundits marvelled as "Chelsea stroked it long with accuracy" - Bolton on the other hand are labelled as "humping it forward". Funny that in Okocha, Hierro and Speed we have/had some of the best passers in the Prem.

6. Unfavourable - you lot scoring in the 95th minute at the Reebok.

7. BRFC Savage. Bolton Diouf. Not a hard question.

8. Only one? I think Bolton will tear Blackburn apart - it will be embarrassing to see such a gulf between the two teams.

Six fingered banjo playing freak, f??ck off.

Playing better than at the start of last season. Skill and passion unlike your team where thuggery and aggression seems to be the order of the day!

2. Rovers have an absolutely dismal record in Europe.  How far can Bolton go in the UEFA Cup this year?
It doesn't matter how far we get. What matters is we got there without some millionaire dipping into his back pocket for a few million quid to bank-roll his team. We have done it on good management skills, something Rovers have always lacked!
3. How is it you can turn that fat slob Kevin Davies into a decent Premiership player?
Strange he gets called a fat slob by Rovers and Saints fans! Fair enough he isn't a ??7million player but then, as stated above, our management is far superior to anything you'll ever see!
4. If England came calling right now do you think Big Sam would take the job on a permanent basis?
No. Why should he? He's not quite finished his job here yet. If and when he does leave Bolton, it'll probably be to manage England.
5. Being an unfashionable northern team yourselves like Blackburn, how frustrating is it to see the southern-based press brand both our styles of football as route-one or over aggressive?
Don't dare even compare your brand of aggressive play with our brand of passionate play!
6. Any favourable/unfavourable past memories of Bolton vs Blackburn games that stand out in your mind?
Favourable: 4-3 winners after 3-1 down, winning promotion at Ewood in 1978 are just two. Unfavourable: Four minutes being held up and Rovers equalising in the seventh minute of those four!
7. There will be plenty of controversial characters on show at the Reebok on Sunday, but which individual (from either side) should have the biggest influence on the outcome?
Graham Poll.
8. Mark Lawrenson, the football expert that he is, is going for a 1-0 home win - agree/disagree?
Only 1-0? He's having a laugh! Once you're down to 9 men because Dikov and Todd can't play without cheating. . .well, we may just be going to beat Man Ure's record of 9-0 against Ipswich!

1. Bolton have two points less than they did this time last season, but in terms of performances have you continued your impressive form at the end of last season into the start of 2005/06?

We have, we banjoed both Villa and Everton, and came away without a win.

2. Rovers have an absolutely dismal record in Europe. How far can Bolton go in the UEFA Cup this year?

Knocked out first round.

3. How is it you can turn that fat slob Kevin Davies into a decent Premiership player?

It's because he is playing at a proper club. Not a club that just goes out and buys a replacement with some dead mans money. We have to look after our players.

4. If England came calling right now do you think Big Sam would take the job on a permanent basis?

Yes.

5. Being an unfashionable northern team yourselves like Blackburn, how frustrating is it to see the southern-based press brand both our styles of football as route-one or over aggressive?

We are not unfashionable, I'd say unfasionable is getting about 16000 fans for a premiership game.

6. Any favourable/unfavourable past memories of Bolton vs Blackburn games that stand out in your mind?

None, Blackburn are a "nothing" team

7. There will be plenty of controversial characters on show at the Reebok on Sunday, but which individual (from either side) should have the biggest influence on the outcome?

Savage, What a great signing he was.

8. Mark Lawrenson, the football expert that he is, is going for a 1-0 home win - agree/disagree?

Disagree, 3-0

Lets hope you bring more than 1000 on sunday!!!!

Ps If you are going for a beer, The Beehive does not allow away fans anymore. The Greenwood (Turn Left at the Beehive Roundabout) is the one for you.

1. Bolton have two points less than they did this time last season, but in terms of performances have you continued your impressive form at the end of last season into the start of 2005/06?

Not quite

2. Rovers have an absolutely dismal record in Europe. How far can Bolton go in the UEFA Cup this year?

be happy to get into the group stages

3. How is it you can turn that fat slob Kevin Davies into a decent Premiership player?

sam allardyce

4. If England came calling right now do you think Big Sam would take the job on a permanent basis?

without doubt

5. Being an unfashionable northern team yourselves like Blackburn, how frustrating is it to see the southern-based press brand both our styles of football as route-one or over aggressive?

dont give a shit what the southern fairies think

6. Any favourable/unfavourable past memories of Bolton vs Blackburn games that stand out in your mind?

diouf's award winning penalty

7. There will be plenty of controversial characters on show at the Reebok on Sunday, but which individual (from either side) should have the biggest influence on the outcome?

savage sent off and diouf to 'win' another penalty would make my day

8. Mark Lawrenson, the football expert that he is, is going for a 1-0 home win - agree/disagree?

speaks sense that man

1. Bolton have two points less than they did this time last season, but in terms of performances have you continued your impressive form at the end of last season into the start of 2005/06?

Think we're unlucky not to be on 12 points at this stage.

2. Rovers have an absolutely dismal record in Europe. How far can Bolton go in the UEFA Cup this year?

Don't see any reason why we wont do very well. Will be interseting to see how European opposition deal with the system we play.

3. How is it you can turn that fat slob Kevin Davies into a decent Premiership player?

Fat? He's just big boned. Think we've found a place in our system which suits his strengths. Can't think of a better target man playing in England at the moment. Would have been just wjat we needed against Northern Ireland.

4. If England came calling right now do you think Big Sam would take the job on a permanent basis?

Unfortunately yes but think he would do a great job.

5. Being an unfashionable northern team yourselves like Blackburn, how frustrating is it to see the southern-based press brand both our styles of football as route-one or over aggressive?

Very frustrating, especially when you have to listen to them bang on about West Ham non-existant "academy of football". Don't make any mistake about it, we can play when we need to!

6. Any favourable/unfavourable past memories of Bolton vs Blackburn games that stand out in your mind?

When we beat you 5-1 in the Masters tournament!

7. There will be plenty of controversial characters on show at the Reebok on Sunday, but which individual (from either side) should have the biggest influence on the outcome?

Jay Jay Okocha. Still gets plenty of stick despite being the most talented player at the club.

8. Mark Lawrenson, the football expert that he is, is going for a 1-0 home win - agree/disagree?

The guy is a bell end despite his prediction.

I think the Roveeerrrrrrrrrrrs fans will be surprised how 'skinny' Davies looks after his pre-season training sport-smiley-007.gif

what are the odds on plovdiv bringing more than Blackburn?  :D

About even money I'd say.

The away following will be small, because the poor standard of living in that area ie low wages and gypo slums.

I mean Blackburn, not Plovdiv! :D
