Driving versus Flying

I wanted to open this debate as it has been rageing between me and my mates, regarding our transportation to marsille. No flights booked yet, and I would not be one of the 2 designated drivers, but I am definetly on the flying side, any RELEVANT ideas would be welcome

yes luton to nice 84 or 86 return on the thursday come back the friday then 44 return on the train from nice to marseillle plus 15 quid petrol to luton between 4, but the driving option is cheap if you camp and take a shit load of tinned food and a gas stove! well thats the arguement between me and my mates but I'm still for flying

Driving doesn't make your arms ache.

I hope this helps you come to a decision.

Why not hitchhike?

Probably because I've not got the balls but I would need the security of being back in bolton on saturday night for work

Sod it, do Happy Airlines for ??279 and let my flight pacakge take the hassle out of your travelling.

You know it makes sense :D

279 frigging quid! I'm talking about living off beans for three days and sleepng rough, try 120!

Wouldn't it cost you a fortune in petrol and tolls to drive, not to mention getting across the channel??

One option which is minimal pissing about in England but pissing about in France.

Ryanair are starting flying to Carcassonne from Liverpool. Carcassonne is about 180 miles to Marseille so hiring a car is probably your best bet especially if there are 4/5 of you.

Tues-Sat or Thu-Sat is about ??125 return. Unfortunately no Weds flight.

The f??ckers have also started flying Liverpool to Porto.

Only 3 months too late. ](*,)

France is a bigger country than you probably think. It is a hell of a distance from Calais to Marseille.

Or the alternative is SPACE HOPPERS

Me and the Cattle lads will be bouncing through the channel tunnel at 9 bells sharp if you and your bunch of Lucky Pierres would like to tag onto the back of us

Double bubble

Electric Boogaloo

The driving option is not too expensive regarding petrol, ferry/tunnel and tolls. Its 980 odd miles to marseille, from bolton so we recon about 3 tanks of petrol there and three back, 40 quid toll there and 40 back and 49 each way to use the chunnel. Plus its split between 4 people

you can use this to do a virtual drive to marseille from our very own le mans crescent

thats whats were looking at

Well come with the space hopper electric boogaloo gang, we're going to rush the Channel Tunnel & Toll police so it won't cost a penny. Bring a couple of puncture outfits though because we're attacking from the west and we're going in low and fast.

Driving can be a real bitch in France - I've done a few trips over the pond and there are usually a good few crashes on the motorways - they then redirect you onto the village roads where it all goes wrong because your map does not have sufficient detail to show where the hell you are!!

Don't forget to build in the cost of tolls on the m/ways - they are pretty frequent and also they time your entry and exit and work out your average speed to see if you have a heavy right foot. [-X

??400 whats were looking at

Plus 2 whole days of travelling?

Get on the plane or the train.

PS If you want to fly from Liverpool to Carcassonne with Ryanair, you'll have to go out on the Thursday morning and return on the Saturday and it'll be ??131 each. Or you could go out on the Tuesday and return Saturday for ??124. They only do that route on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

you could fly to gerona from blackpool and drive its about three and half hours our fly to lyon from stansted. to drive from bolton you lookin on 18hrs drive with few stops

iv gone for the train choice its suprisingly quicker than flying on the cheap costing me 164 quid leaving from manchester at 7 50 ariving in Marseille at 6 30
