Everton have joined Bolton and Wigan in the race to sign Crystal Palace's England striker Andrew Johnson.

Boss David Moyes is understood to be prepared to match the ??7m bids tabled by their two Premiership rivals.

Would be interesting to see who he'd choose between us and Everton, oh and Wigan

Just beat me to it. Everton will outbid us, so this conversation is over!

doubt that very much

those days, the ones where Everton are seen as bigger and more attractive than us and can outspend us at will, are long gone

Not convinced myself Zico, I think we can compete with them on league position every season no probs, but I reckon they still have quite a few quid in the bank.

Johnson has good relationship with Dowie and I reckon Dowie would advise for him to go to Bolton because of connections. Anyway it would probably more about who could pay better wages or affer a better package rather than the transfer fee.

I think it would come down to when the manager sits the lad down, tells them why they should join their club and then show them what's going on behind the scenes at the club

given Dowie and Alladyce are like minded I think Johnson would like what he saw at our forward thinking club rather than Moyes and his lot who live in the past

No one knows how much we have to spend, I would be very suprised if we pay that much for Johnson. We have been after him for a couple of seasons now. We will probably go for Nugent or Jerome Thomas!

Beattie and Johnson would make a decent partnership IMO.

I think on an even financial playing ground, it would be a hard decision by any player to choose between Everton and Bolton.

I doubt your bid is real, but you never know!

We have put that bid in as a bogus bid to up the ante for other clubs, Sam and Dowie are mates remember

We will never spend that much money

7 million is a bit too much, but if you want English, you have to pay it!

Shite article but this is interesting, our old friends Besiktas:

Meanwhile, Wigan striker Jason Roberts has emerged as a target for Turkish giants Besiktas. The club, who have qualified for the UEFA Cup next season, are ready to table an offer for the muscular centre forward but Jewell would try to repel any potential bids for his stand-in skipper.
