Guest Biff Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I thought he had a good game. Just because he reffed a game in which England didn't win doesn't make him a bad ref. You all need to get over this and quickly because the way things are at present there is no way England will win a major tournament.
Carlos Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 When two defenders have an attacker in an armlock, that's a freekick in my book. When the attacker is in his own half and facing his own goal, there is no advantage to be gained. If the ref had blown for the foul like he should have, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

My thoughts exactly. Defo a foul before the "stamp".
Burndens Bogs Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 99 out of 100 refs WOULD have blown for a foul before the stamp, trust us to get the 1 prick who didn't
Carlos Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Biffo won't accept that as he seems to revel in England's disappointment for some bizarre reason. I think he's secretly Scottish
wovlad Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 trust us to get the 1 Argie who didn't It appeared to me he'd finally given Rooney the free kick. Then after Ronaldo had screamed for Rooney to be carded. He sent Rooney off and gave Portugal the free kick. If you look at Beckham's red in 98. Becks is fouled he retaliates gets a red card but we still get the free kick. However you look at the ref 's performance during that game. His control of that incident was piss poor. The Mexican who ref'd Italy vs Germany should have got the nod for the final ahead of him.
Zozzy Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 The ref was doing Rooney a favour by playing the advantage, if he had played a pass forward to a white shirt we would have kept posession and everything would have been hunky dory. If he had misplaced his pass then the ref would have blew for an England free-kick.
Carlos Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 And I repeat, when the attacker is in his own half and facing his own goal, there is no advantage to be gained.
