October 12, 200619 yr could somebody post a laymans introduction to downloading torrents or send me a message quite simple really, you require; a. a client (google for 'abc torrent') b. a torrent tracker (www.torrentspy.com perhaps) choosing a torrent to download (you actually download a small modified hex file, which tells the client to go and download the full required file(s).) Note that Torrents are a form of p2p (peer to peer) and therefore not only allow you to download from others, but also allow others to download from your pc (often without your knowledge/consent). I'm sure I speak on behalf of all WW members when I say I cant condone downloading of illegal and copyrighted material. (plenty of torrents are fully legal). HTH
October 13, 200619 yr Anyone use a torrent that doesnt make your system run like a snail? I have used Azueres on my system (Athlon 64, 3600xp, 2gb ram) and its slows everything down to a standstill. When I use Shareaza everything is fine... Use "Shareaza" and get your downloads from peerweb.org
October 13, 200619 yr you need a client so download azureus, piece of piss to use torrents from torrentspy, torrentreactor & isohunt save torrent to a folder, then open file in azerues bingo

I changed from Azureus to ??Torrent about 18 months or so ago and have found it pretty good. It does slow things down a bit, especially if I'm doing P2P stuff at the same time but I'm usually able to keep things under control with netlimiter. http://www.netlimiter.com/ Is Pipex any good? I'm on NTL 4mb

I use Net Transport a few times a week to capture radio streams and that does slow my pc down a fair bit You get problems downloading new torrents, mainly US TV shows, as you end up uploading at full speed which impacts responsiveness when browsing. Net Transport is a cracking piece of software. I sacked off Shareaza, I think because it was slowing things down (my PC is a finely tuned beast).

It seems much better this week.

It seems much better this week. had reason to speak to ntl yesterday and the friendly chap in bangalore told me i was connected to the wronmg server reckon he was just fobbing me off but we'll see he's given me a months free trial of the 10 meg service if somebody downloaded a film - and then had 40 odd .rar files, what would he do next on the way to getting it on a disc? October 15, 200619 yr if somebody downloaded a film - and then had 40 odd .rar files, what would he do next on the way to getting it on a disc? hypothetically speaking, one would download and install winrar (www.winrar.com) and then right click on one of the rar files and select 'extract to' and choose where to place the completed file. One may also need quickpar (http://www.quickpar.org.uk/) to check for errors in the archives, if there are any files with the extention .par . HTH
October 16, 200619 yr there is a possiblity the rar files will then create some type on dvd image (iso, bin, nrg) this would to be burned as a image and not directly to a cd/dvd
