October 13, 200619 yr anyone off here going? Rugby League? Can anyone tell me on here why the team that finished top doesn't neccessarily win the league? That appears to be an inherant flaw in the game imho.
October 13, 200619 yr anyone off here going? No! and thats from a chap from the town were rugby was formed apparently!!!!!!!!!!! egg chasing is for idiots Edited October 13, 200619 yr by hughesy
October 13, 200619 yr anyone off here going? Why would you? At least when the beer bellied miners played it, it was piss funny. Only popular in towns with crap football teams (like Leeds and Wigan ).
October 13, 200619 yr At least you won't have 5 minute breaks throughout, for fully grown men who've taken a tap on the ankle & are rolling around like they've been caught in a bear trap.

Fair point AS but, if it was any good, why has it not spread beyond Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire, New South Wales and Queensland? Don't give me London Broncos; France; Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. Mere token presences.

Don't give me London Broncos; France; Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. Mere token presences. And whilst me and Bolty are on our high horses, what about the newly formed Catalan whatevers having a bye to stay in the league no matter how shite they were this season. It's just not cricket! Let's allow Sheffield United to stay in the premier league this season and allow another side to go down in their favour.
October 13, 200619 yr Fantastic game. Rather watch it than football tbh. Lots of sports have a play-off at the end of the season to decide the champions. Catalan have 3 seasons grace to allow them to build a decent infrastructure/academy to go forward. The clubs in superleague voted for it. Hughesy, come down to the Willows next season, stand in the shed, and repeat your sweeping statement. Good luck.
October 13, 200619 yr Fantastic game.Rather watch it than football tbh. So why are you posting on a football forum then?
October 13, 200619 yr I didn't realise I was only allowed to watch/be a fan of one sport. I watch Bolton because I have to, I watch RL because I want to.

October 13, 200619 yr well that makes me a idiot so if you fancy saying it to my face, feel free shithouse. shithouse? On what grounds have you to call me a shithouse? MY OPINION Edited October 13, 200619 yr by hughesy
October 13, 200619 yr Sorry, getting on my high horse!! I have to watch Bolton cos i always have, i'm a supporter, it, as it were, is in my blood(cue violin). I choose to watch RL cos it's a great game, fast, skillful(no really), I can stand up at a game, I can drink a beer on the terraces, I can get a tram to about 100 metres of the willows, I can get to 80% of away games without spending ridiculous amounts of money on travel, I can buy a season ticket (14 games) for ??135 and pay circa ??14 on the gate at most away games, I can almost re-create the experience of burnden in the mis 80's(Ok not the crap football, but you know what i mean). You should try it, I know a few on here do(Leigh, Chorley etc) and I think they will feel the same as me.
October 13, 200619 yr Is it not East? Doesn't that make him a bluenose by rights? It's North. Dont get me wrong, i'm not bragging. why do you have to watch BWFC blackley? you say it as if its a fookin chore??????? Lets face it, sometimes it is.
October 13, 200619 yr shithouse? On what grounds have you to call me a shithouse? MY OPINION What the f??cking hell did you expect? If you dont like rugby league, then fair enough but you're not calling me a idiot because I do, shithouse. Regarding the other posts, the game will never really grow outside of the heartlands becuase it has to complete with rugby union and the huge media that it gets, which has been well established for generations across a greater area. That said the fastest growing sport in London schools is rugby league, so maybe one day. I would not call New Zealand, current world champions, a token jesture, and PNG are damned keen on it too plus the game in southern france has been played to a decent enough standard for many many years and is favoured over rugby union in most parts. The Catalans will fail though which will heap more negativity on the game. The play offs situation is open to debate, it is structured to give the team who finishes top the easiest chance of getting to the final, but it still comes down to one game, rightly or wrongly. Saints were top, so why should Hull have the chance of winning the Grand Final? Well Hull were the only team to win at Saints this year so why not? It creates massive interest within the game and Rupert Murdoch wants it so thats the end of the discussion really because it wont change whether we agree or not. I have always preferred RL as a sport over football, it is faster and tougher; you dont need to be tough to play football (not to say there are no tough men in football, there are, but there are also soft girly tarts). I can watch any team play RL, I only watch Bolton play football because I have no interest whatsoever in any other club. Football was the good day out for me, often spoiled by 90 minutes of football, but RL as a sport (for me) pisses all over it. Standing up on a terrace with ale in your hand, and paying an affordable price to watch it means it wins hand down.
October 13, 200619 yr I know I'm a idiot, but I ain't being called one from a total shitdick. Ok maybe idiot was the wrong word. imo rugby is shit and as me dad always said it was for people who wasnt skillful enough to play football.
