October 17, 200619 yr Usually its around the end of october / November when bolton start to slump for 6 - 10 games. In my opinion this year i can not see us losing many games (only conceded 4 goals 3 Pen 1 was harsh). We have a good defence which does not look like being broken unless someone of talent his a 35 yard screamer. Don't Think we will have to worry about a major slump this year. Anyone know of odds for bolton going the full Premeirship season with out losing a home Game? Edited October 17, 200619 yr by gazanders

Anyone know of odds for bolton going the full Premeirship season with out losing a home Game? I agree with you in general mate. Just mentioning a midwinter slump might have the prophets of doom out in force on here again. Will it be TonyCee, XXXXXX or someone else who will be first to surrender to his negative urges? Market:- 11/10 TonyCee 6/4 XXXXXX 5/1 HomerJay
October 17, 200619 yr I'll take the 6/4 then. There will be a dip in form at some point, it stands to reason. Most teams have one, why should we be different? The key is keeping the run as short as possible. 10 games without a win, 2 seasons ago is unacceptable, as is 1 win in 9 last spring. If we can limit any potential loss of form to 4 or 5 matches at most, a European place will be ours. I'm being realistic, not pessimistic.
October 17, 200619 yr Another reason to be hopeful of a European place is the fact that Blackburn, Newcastle and Spurs all have to play an extra 4 European matches by christmas. Everyone knows that the long trips can affect league form - their fans should be grateful that they've already got so many points on the board .....
October 17, 200619 yr Yes, Newcastle and Spurs have got loads of points already. What price on the Jawdies going doon?
October 17, 200619 yr manure scrotes will beat us and it will be downhill from there until jan when we beat liverpool away and then we'll charge on to a european place! I'm also being realistic, not pessimistic.

Thanks for that Homer. Not sure how to take it. A bit like kissing your sister. You do seem to be developing a bit of an optimistic streak. I don't believe we'll lose to Man United. A hard fought draw likely. Hope we do em though.
October 17, 200619 yr What price on the Jawdies going doon? Currently 17-1 which seems pretty generous considering how poor they've been of late. That said I suspect that they'll survive because there are enough teams that are even weaker than them. And with all those English starlets in their team .... Parker, Bramble, Ameobi, Ramage etc etc. It's starting to look like Roeder at West Ham all over again.

October 17, 200619 yr remember, whether the glass is half empty or half full it still needs drinking... I thought the 3 league games starting with the barstripes would give us a proper insight as to real stature of this current Bolton team. Just over 1/4 way through the season and having taken on jackburn and utd with a tough cup game in between. So if we are still in the top 6 come November it will be a better than most expected at the seasons start. Top 4 and I reckon we will be seen as true contenders for a Champions league spot. The team looks as though its actually improving game by game. Jackburn will no doubt be another tough test our defensive qualities.

October 17, 200619 yr I think it could be November when we might struggle to pick up points Sheff United away will not be easy with them fighting hard, Everton never an easy place to go and then Arsenal and Chelsea at home, i'm hoping to get something from Blackburn on Sunday and we need to beat Wigan at home, i would be suprised if we got anything from United but you never know

October 17, 200619 yr With such a small squad we are bound to have a bad spell when suspensions and injuries mean were are having to play the fringe players, FACT.

I'm not but every season we have a slump at some point and i think this season it might just be a small one, on the positive side, we should hammer Sheff United, Everton are shite and we should get something there, we always do Arsenal and Chelsea don't look that convincing so a draw at least
October 17, 200619 yr With no UEFA distraction or African Nations this year, I think we are Euro bound.

Turn away from the dark side. I knew you were a +ve really
October 17, 200619 yr Author With no UEFA distraction or African Nations this year, I think we are Euro bound. Brings us on to another point why cant african nations bring their comp into line with others seens as though all the top players in africa play in either england spain or italy
October 17, 200619 yr Brings us on to another point why cant african nations bring their comp into line with others seens as though all the top players in africa play in either england spain or italy It has been suggested, but it was deemed by FIFA, too hot to play a major tournament in most African countries in June. Then they gave South Africa the World Cup: but it will be cooler in SA than central and northern Africa and the allocation of the World Cup had more to do with politics really than football.
