Time To...........say Goodbye

To Ivan Campo and Gary Speed, thanks for everything lads - but you just can't hack it at this level anymore. It's time for a couple of fresh young midfielders.

Anyone who disagrees knows fcuk all about football, and can fcuk right off - i'm not in the mood

You're not leaving much room for discussion there, are you?

But he is correct, both belting signings but...... time moves on

The problem is Nolan. Speed's having to do the work of two players. Drop the fat scouser and Speed will be fine.

We struggle against any team with pace in their midfield eg. Spurs, United & Arsenal. Although Campo and Speed can still do a job for us we need at least one of our midfield 3 to have real pace to deal with quick counter attacks and players like Ronaldo and Lennon.

i agree andranik and tompson in 4 campo and speed,to slow to sloppy to old

i agree totally. it is time for them to move on. the midfield is very slow. andranik and thompson are worth a go, maybe even tal. we need a change and when andranik plays we seem to be a better team

Spot on. Andranik in for Nolan. That will at least give us a bit more pace in midfield.

I can't see why Thompson should make any difference. He did nowt at Wigan or Portsmouth.

I must admit I do have a soft spot for Campo. He provides the only midfield creativity we have, but he hasn't been good recently. Maybe play Speed as holding midfielder and give Tal a chance. But Hunt has got to go, and that means playing Ben Haim at right back.

Still lacking pace all over the park though. Quickest players in the squad? Smith and Vaz Te - both out on loan.

Pace is nothing if you can't kick a ball..

I don't think getting shut of campo and speed is going to do any good but there is definently a case for making them squad players instead of regulars.

If we'd have won - you'd all be singing the praises of the pair of them.

We lost 4-1 away to, arguably, the best team in the country.#

Football fans - I've shat 'em.

Keep it real. We struggle against genuine pace and United have it to burn. That's the difference between them and the others.

He looked OK when he came on. He is playing for a contract and that at least gives him more motivation than others.

Also agree with the comments about Speed. With Nolan playing as poorly as he is, Speed (and to some degree Campo) are having to cover. Making Nolan captain has turned out to be one of the worst decisions ever by BSA, as he know seems untouchable for being dropped.

If we are comparing our midfield to Uniteds then yes we are well short. I also agree that when challenged with genuine pace and class our midfield also struggles. But lets be honest pace in itself is no good, hence vaz te/smith not good enough for our team presently. Also there are only a handful of players in a handful of teams who have the pace and class that has tore us apart. More often than not this season Speed and Campo have performed well and that is why we are still 5th.

Time to say goodbye...I think that is a complete over reaction

I'd keep Speed but Campo should be a gonner for me. He's past it. There's a few that need to go at the end of the season - Pedersen, Stelios, Hunt, Campo.

I agree, Campo has been pinching a living for a long time now. It is very rare we get a good game out of him these days. Campo is suspended for the next match I believe, which will give one of the fringe players a chance to prove themselves.

Pedersen, stelios, hunt have definitely got to go, just not good enough for the prem. I'd keep Speed and Campo, as squad players but i do agree i would like to see some youth in the midddle of the park next season. To be fair to nolan i honestly think big sam has told him not to push as far forward this season, which ultimately has taken half his game away. He's great at shutting down, forcing the opposition into errors but last season he almost drove our attacks and for m ehe doesn't have that same effect this season as he simply doesn't push forward enough for me
