Carson was piss poor on last night pen shoot out , but throughout the comp he has been very solid and composed,

 

He should have saved this one IMO. He struck it well but the ball didn't move much and wasn't far from Carson's standing position.

Like I've said earlier, penalty saving is a small part of a goalkeepers game. It's mostly luck, penalties are pretty rare in games and the outfield player is expected to score.

 

Goalkeepers should be judged on shot stopping, positioning, how good they are in the air, good kicking with both feet etc.

 

I think he has all of these and is still young. Big future I think and would prefer him to Kenny personally

You quoted my post and then started talking about penalties that's all.

 

I agree that gk should be judged more on what you list including shot stopping. He should have saved that shot.

 

Agreed though that he could develop into a good gk and wouldn't be pissed off if he signed.

 

Still a step down from Jussi though.

Whatever you may think of his ability, we had some first rate banter with Paddy Kenny at Bramall Lane last season. We were taking the piss about his wife shagging around, and he turned round grinning and shouted 'fook her' while giving a one fingered salute. Brought the house down, seems a good bloke.

Merely an observation, at no point did I suggest we should sign him!

Both would fit in well at RBK

and as wonderful as Jussi is i still cringe on the back pass element to is game but... can anybody name a goalkeeper that has a perfect all round game and... Bolton can afford?

Surely those who have criticised Jussi for his ability to collect crosses cannot support the signing of Kenny. He looks to have safe hands, but keeping in mind his size, it could well be a downfall long term.

 

We could bring in a worse replacement for Jussi, but I wouldn't be totally convinced. I still think of Steve Banks, and how he lacked in height, regardless of how well Kenny has done in the past.

 

As for Carson, saved Dioufy's penalty at The Valley last season didn't he, albeit a poor penalty.

 

However, he went down far too early on several occasions yesterday. Had he stood his ground for the odd spot kick, he may well have saved a couple more.
