Mounts Kipper Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 got to be worth a go at ?2.5m? dissapointed we have not gone for him, looks like he is off to boro.
Casino Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 (edited) the ignorance on here baffles me sometimes? 2.5 million???? you reckon thats enough to decide if we should be dabbling id give the thread the time of day if anybody knew what wages he was after if its 50k a week, it stops being 2.5 million and becomes 12.5 over 4 years fook me, give me strength Edited July 21, 2007 by Casino
Carlos Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 got to be worth a go at ?2.5m? If we signed Luke Young you'd throw your toys out of the pram demanding big name signings, you can't have it both ways.

Just for fun though, if we were to assume that his wages were within our bracket, what do you think? I like what I've seen and he's one of the few players that's inevitably available by clubs following relegation that I believe would improve not only our squad, but first eleven.

I think he's OK and would be an improvement But I also suspect he's had his best days, despite his age I'd say, financially, a big gamble for a right back

Casino Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 you not think mk? he'll be on a good screw at charlton, signed a contract following interest from curbishley/west ham, and he's been enticed out of the smoke for smogland if i heard he was on 50k a week, i'd not be shocked if we could get him for a million on master hunts wages i'd be tempted
Dexter Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Who are we interested in then boys if Luke Young is not the man for the job? 50k a week give me a break. He wont be on more than ?20k. Charlton wont continue to pay that so we dont need to offer that much. My guess is the lad wants to play prem football and would take a paycut to improve his england chances (saying that at bolton theyre nil!). I reckon Boro will offer less than ?20k a week. He is a class right back only behind neville and richards in england. How anybody can say he isnt worth 2.5m need their heads testing. How much have the following been bought for recently; Richardson, konchesky, baird, chopra, greg halford. Come on boys take a look at reality
HomerJay Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 after watching samuel in that peace cup final, hunt isnt all that bad! he got made to look a fool on more than one occasion. hopefully its just a pre-season thing.

exiledwhite2 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Dyer is/was apparently lined up for ?100k at West Ham So I wouldn't be surprised to hear Young commanding ?50k or close to that After all, the football world has gone mad, again
Carlos Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Why? You will really struggle to find any footballer at a decent Premiership club on under 10K, an England international would laugh at 20k a week. Is that a figure you just plucked out of the air?
Casino Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 especially when he's the third best english right back (debatable) behind one at united and one quite possibly leaving his massive club any time soon, for serious money
Dexter Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 casino........concept of contracts. Youve lost me??? dyer to w.ham for 100k a week are people believing whats in the papers. Its bulls**t. Rooney doesnt get that. You ask why boro wont need to offer more than ?20k coz i think thats nearer to what hes on now and he wants out so he will take what he can to get prem football. especially when theres only boro showing an interest with the looks of it. Carlos you said You will really struggle to find any footballer at a decent Premiership club on under 10K, an England international would laugh at 20k a week. Is that a figure you just plucked out of the air? I agree with the ?10k thing but who mentioned any decent prem clubs. For an ex international full back at a championship club he cannot demand more than ?20k a week. If he does he will stay at charlton. Take the top 5 (now inc Spurs) out of the equation along with owen at newcastle and possibly money mad west ham at the moment and IMO theres not another prem team paying wages of over ?40k and thats for their star man ie Anelka, Cahill, Benni McCarthy, Sol Campbell. Are any of these a full back? Then it is in my opinion that he isnt on more than ?20k a week.

Dexter Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Ur guna tell me robbie fowlers earning 50k a week at cardiff next coz he's an international and from a decent prem club.
Traf Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Ur guna tell me robbie fowlers earning 50k a week at cardiff next coz he's an international and from a decent prem club. We're not. He's getting ?25,000 a week and a luxury house.

Are any of these a full back? Then it is in my opinion that he isnt on more than ?20k a week. Robbie Fowler is one of the wealthiest footballers out there, I doubt very much if he's that bothered about wages when he's making more money from property and the interest on his millions in the bank. His career is behind him. Luke Young on the other hand hasn't made millions and won't be earning a penny below 25K if he moved to Boro. Robert Huth cost them ?5 million, he'll be on top wages as will Woodgate. Both defenders at the same club. Your opinion is formed without any substance. And if you think Cahill is a star man you really are a lost cause. PS cut the chav language.
Casino Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Luke Young is a crock. Stay well away there is a story out there that the only reason he didn't follow curbishley was down to fitness worries
Yossi Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 there is a story out there that the only reason he didn't follow curbishley was down to fitness worries He failed a medical. He has a long standing knee injury that could 'go' at any minute. When it does, that'll be it, career over. I'd be amazed if anyone signed him. It's a very similar scenario to when Charlton sold Mark Kinsella.
