Injured. O'Brien had asked to come off.

'our best defender' - this'll be the signing condemned as utterly naff by most on here a few weeks ago.

things are not going well, but i'm still content to ride out the storm. i still expect a c.12th place finish and a decent cup run.

we normally score; today was the first game in 23 we hadn't. once we protect the defence more we'll be fine. archie knox may have been here a fortnight but the players haven't. yes, ok, the international week has affected every premiership club. but i see today as an off-day and all teams experience a handful of these each season.

Well it's good to read an optimistic post amongst all the doom and gloom but i fear for us against Spurs next week. With the attacking talent they've got, we could get well and truly battered. It's just a question of how long the board give him to turn it round. Personally i think that they've got to bite the bullet sooner rather than later. By the time we play Arsenal we'll be a quarter of the way through the season and potentially well adrift at the bottom.

It really was pretty depressing today.

I only decided to go at the last minute as well

We were really bad today, I can't emphasise how poor we were. Birmingham bullied us and also outclassed us - WTF??? The defence isn't THAT bad and Jussi kept us in the game more than once, Diouf looked interested but Anelka didn't. However our midfield is shocking, utterly clueless, it's there for all to see.

4 players in Nolan, Speed, McCann and Alonso who have neither a run, a pass or a tackle in them put together. Kevin Nolan took 35 minute to actually touch the ball. There's no width there, no pace, no attacking threat, just 4 blokes who were happy to watch the game go by. It's probably being a bit harsh on Gary Speed but c'est la vie.

If O'Brien was injured, which I didn't see any signs of, we should have sacrificed a defender. Bringing on Cid is pointless as he's dogshit, you can't pull the wool over our eyes. Sammy Lee is taking us down, the sooner we get rid, the better.

they were nothing and i expect them to be bottom six but we were clueless of how to get round or behind their defence. the team is crying out for a ball player in the middle. we have one in campo he has the ability to see and nous required to feed anelka. good turn out today down there . crowd turning was a nail in lsl's coffin. not happy tho with cries for getting nolan off. at end of day he was wearing white and however p.ss poor a game he was having i shout for the team and draw the line at that. plus to see ricardo come back though and hunt had a good game.......again.

If a manager cannot motivate the team then we need to get rid. From what I hear we where far from motivated today!

Isn't Alonso supposed to be a 'ball-player'?

Isn't Alonso supposed to be a 'ball-player'?

The best passer of the ball in our team today was Nicholas Hunt. That speaks volumes doesn't it?

No, he's a box to boxer-er, his brother is the ball player.

Well we've got enough midfield players to choose from, surely we can find a decent combination from somewhere. With the squad of players we've got, we really should be able to beat half the teams in the Prem.

O'Brien our best defender? You are having a laugh surely. He missed a sitter, was his fault for their goal, missed a header he should have been ready for which resulted in him fouling and getting booked. The free kick hit the bar as well.

Best defender?? Well our Nicky.......

A while back, after we'd played 2 games, we talked about how Lee should have 10 games to prove himself - I suggested 8 as the 9th and 10th were Chelsea and Arsenal (and neither getting stuffed by them nor the players turning it on for the big occasion and getting summat out of them really means much) and said that the minimum we needed from the next 6 games was 6 points. Plenty of people suggested that that was letting them off lightly and that if, after 8 games (particularly the against the 8 teams in question) we were on 6 points we'd be in trouble. Well we've now had 4 of those 6 and only picked up 3 points....

Been at all the games thus far and today was the first one that it was hard to take anything positive from.

The next couple of weeks are make or break for the manager. Despite everything, we still have four winnable games. If we win all four we go into the Chelsea game on a high, if we lose all four it's curtains i'm afraid.

Win all four? On current form we will be hard pressed to win four before new year.

Sammy Lee will probably find something positive to take out of it. Although he did look naffed off walking away at the end.

Its not just make or break time for Lee, it could be for ouw whole season. I hope we have a good cup run or it could get very depressing

I wouldn't say that. After eight league games there's still plenty of time to put it right. We have a decent team, far better than half the teams in the Prem. in my opinion, we just need somebody who can get the best out of them. Hopefully Sammy Lee will yet prove to be that person.

Agreed we have individually better players than a lot of tema in thr Prem. But we need to be careful. If we are getting well adrift at the bottom after ten matches it will be difficult playing catch up. I hope Little Sammy can turn the situation round but he needs to do it quickly or we need rid.

Are you taking the f?cking piss???

He was not at fault for their goal, was you there???????????????????????????????????

The ball got played diagonally across field, Samuelo started to go then stopped and back tracked, then gave the winger all the time in the world, if he had carried on he would of interceppted the ball and got rid but he didn't and allowed him to cross to the back post where Hunt was ball watching and Jussi made a f?ck up of a routine save

Dont f?ckin start i'm not in the mood

O'Brien was poor today, was definitely at fault for the goal. We just need some stability at the back, if we had Hunt/Meite/Gardner and a big strong commanding centre half (like Faye  ) then things would be better. As i said before August he's bought 10 midfielders and neglected the back four. What's happened to Michalik, he's better than OBrien and Cid

surely we have the best squad we have ever had? save TBH and Faye this is the same squad ++++

So the fault must lie with the the Mgr whose tactical nous, ability to motivate etc etc is sadly lacking - when Cid came on today that for me was the final the nail in his coffin.

We have a squad plenty good enough to at least be comfortably safe

But strip the confidence, p?ss the big name players off, and throw in utter tactical stupidity and you've a recipe for relegation

This was always on the cards

The whole 'open attacking football' sham was laughable from the start. Anyone who knows football knows that we aren't good enough to indulge such nonsense.

The performance yesterday smacked of a lack of leadership and basic organisation, the players were pointing here pointing there and shaking heads and shouting at each other, body language was abysmal, all these problems start at the top and Sammy Lee carries the can, I have previously said he must have time but I would now show him the door tommorrow.

He was one of the favourites for the sack before the season even started.

The bookies rarely get things wrong.
