Newcastle - Inside Info

Bloke at our work is big mates with Mark Taylor (now physio at Newcastle)

When allardyce first moved up there, they did fitness tests on all the players.

Only 3 came up to scratch - Owen, Dyer and one other.

Mark himself was as fit as some of the players.

The rest of the teams condition compared to Bolton was considered appalling.

They only were at 85% of the condition of our players.

This was the main reason why we always seemed to punch above our weight.

Once Newcastle catch up, with their technical ability they WILL be a very good side.

Mark was also commenting on the fact that if a player got injured he just rested at Newcastle !!

At our place they were put on machines to reduce the rehabilitation time. (these have been

introduced now)

He also said that on the training groung they still had a bucket and sponge for injuries.

All Newcastle players now are in early training and are in there element. Couple of players still

to be got rid of, but they now have all the machinery and technology Bolton had and they

should finish top 6.

Allardyce was also glad they weren't in europe this season - so he could concentrate on

getting them fit and doing well in the league.

As a side issue Michael Owne flies in his helicopter daily from Blackpool to training.

He has his own hangers at Newcastle and Blackpool airports and chauffers to get him to and

from the airport. (how the other half live)

As a parting shot Mark has had a ?50 bet at 7-1 for Bolton to be relegated.

If that level of fitness is true - what does it say for our backwards steps since Fat Sam and Mark Taylor left.

Newcastle ran rings around us on the opening day.

I suppose he had most of the summer to get them fit.

Well he doesn't seem to have done Owen much good. Newcastle have always been a crap away side and it won't change this season. 10th is my forecast and despite our lousy start, I don't think we will be much different once Archie Knox gets the defence organised.

it did, it ensured the midfield 3 remained fit and selected pretty much every game

this has been reported on a few toon sites as well, some claim the other player was steven taylor.

dont th8ink the owen thing is true though, he has bought scott parkers house and his little girl is at school up here.

we do seem to be a hell of a lot fitter though, we used to blow out of our arses after 60 mins

Didnt look fit against Derby

The Sky One documentary t'other week about Michael Owen did show him in the helicopter and he does use it to get to training. Not sure where he lives like but he has all these stables and is breeding horses for racing.

You didn't, the away end looked like a John Prescott look-a-like convention.

Do you just eat & eat up there coz it's so cold?

Players should look pretty fit in the first half of the first half of the season, as the season wears on you will probably see a difference.

We definitely will, especially if we get through in Europe and thus playing 2 games a week. We may then see the benefit of so many players coming in in the summer, if we get knocked out, then we would have been better getting a couple of top players in instead.
