He said Souness was one of the greatest players to wear the shirt but also, if he hadn't have gone when he did, he would've been one of the most destructive managers they'd even had. Now I spoke to a Barcode on Saturday who didn't have a good word to say about him. Now, I don't actually speak to Dingles as a rule, but I bet if I did, they'd probably say similar comments. I concede, I may have met folk who differ from the norm in their views, but I do doubt it.

There was little success on the field, with only a 2-0 victory in the 1992 FA Cup final over Second Division Sunderland, but poor tactics, ill-judged transfer dealings and poor man management caused the decline of one of the greatest football club in Europe.

Grabbi for ?7 million is the obvious one, not to mention Andy Cole (?7 million and ?80k a week) and Dwight Yorke (?67k a week), but rather than motivate the dressing room he alienated their best player at the time (lifelong fan and local boy David Dunn) and apparently attempted to break Dwight Yorke's leg in a tackle in training because he wasn't putting 100% in. He's arguably failed everywhere he's been except at Rangers, which is only a two horse race anyway
