January 24, 200818 yr Fact is, there is a massive gulf between the big four and them - they just can't accept the fact. Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have all gone there and won during this season. Says it all really. Deluded in the extreme. They are a good, solid, workmanlike team and no more. The only one who almost escapes that description is Arteta. A telling fact is that Torres would not have signed for Everton in a million years and yet jumped at the chance to join Liverpool
January 24, 200818 yr A Mickey Mouse cup semi-final......biggest game for us in over 10 years....says it all really.
January 24, 200818 yr I disagree with the micky mouse bit there's a place in Europe and the big teams more often than not win it I used to think it was till we lost in the final
January 24, 200818 yr I would love to win! Im just proving the point of the massive gap! Hopefully we will get Europe with finishing in top 6!
January 24, 200818 yr I would love to win! Im just proving the point of the massive gap! Hopefully we will get Europe with finishing in top 6! bit of confidence pabs .. you may get 4th the way the yanks are ripping the reds apart
January 24, 200818 yr bit of confidence pabs .. you may get 4th the way the yanks are ripping the reds apart Thats the point really, we will only get 4th if they continue to slip up. We just need to keep adding to the squad, we are getting better and better, and closer and closer to those at the top. It will take time. Im happy we are doing it by ourselves, and not being helped out by a new rich owner.
January 24, 200818 yr It will take time. Im happy we are doing it by ourselves, and not being helped out by a new rich owner. Good point and well done for not biting you lovelorn Little Leverite you Moyes has built a solid foundation. The next step is the big and expensive one.
January 24, 200818 yr Moyes has built a solid foundation. The next step is the big and expensive one. very true, and i reckon sam could have had bolton in a similiar position if his heart stayed in the job and he hadnt gambled away his career in the north east.
January 24, 200818 yr I've not seen much Everton delusion. If they think they're a good side it's because they are. I don't think there's much between Liverpool and Everton at all, and i for one would be pleased to see them beat the real deluded scousers to the fourth spot.
January 24, 200818 yr very true, and i reckon sam could have had bolton in a similiar position if his heart stayed in the job and he hadnt gambled away his career in the north east. IMO Sam had use in that position but Gartside would not gave him the funds to take that next step. Garside said something along the lines of "to break into the top 4 you are not talk 10's millions but 100's millions" and again IMO was a major reason that Sam lost sight of the is goals.
January 25, 200818 yr Good point and well done for not biting you lovelorn Little Leverite you Moyes has built a solid foundation. The next step is the big and expensive one. Back upto Heaton in a month!!!

I don't think there's much between Liverpool and Everton at all, and i for one would be pleased to see them beat the real deluded scousers to the fourth spot. Nobody said they weren't a good, solid side did they? As a bloke who likes a bit of a punt, I would be willing to gamble that Liverpool will be more successful than Everton over the next 5-10 years just as they have over the last 30-40. City won't displace the scum as no. 1 in Manchester. Brum won't displace Villa in Birmingham. There are major economic and traditional reasons for this. This is not to say that any of them might not finish above their local rival on the odd occasion but that is all it will be - the odd occasion. If you've not seen any Everton delusion over the years, you must be new to football. Edited January 25, 200818 yr by bolty58
January 25, 200818 yr Fact is, there is a massive gulf between the big four and them Fact is, this "Big Four" bollocks is a bit of a fallacy. 2002/03 - Liverpool finish fifth, behind the Scum, Arsenal, Newcastle and Chelsea. They are 14 points adrift of the Gunners, and a further 5 points behind the Scum. 2003/04 - Liverpool finished fourth, 15 points behind the Scum in third place, and 30 behind champions Chelsea. 2004/05 - Everton push Liverpool down to fifth place, 19 points behind the Scum in third place, and 37 behind champions Chelsea. 2005/06 - A slight blip as Liverpool rise to third. The gulf in quality appears to be narrowing dramatically as the middle England scousers get within a point of the Scum and within nine of Chelsea. 2006/07 - Crikey! Third again! Level on points with Arsenal, but 15 behind Chelsea and 21 behind the Scum. 2007/08- Normal service resumed, it would appear. Currently fifth, already 10 points worse off than Chelsea, and 14 points behind the Scum and Arsenal. There's a Big Three, regardless of what the press or the Scousers would have you believe. Liverpool are just the most consistent of the myriad of clubs that populate the Premier League's second tier. True, they have more brass than most, and the dollar influx means it's highly likely that they will extend the elite to four at some point in the next ten years, particularly if they bin Benitez and replace him with someone who actually knows what they are doing. Can anyone explain to me the widespread media indignation at the suggestion he might get the sack? Phew! Glad I got that off my chest!
January 25, 200818 yr I see what your saying, and as much as I wish it was true. They are quite a bit ahead of us, they can buy anyone, have won a trophy on average every year for the last 10ish years, always get top the last 16 of the Champs league! I think that pretty much puts them in the top 4! You get the odd "other" team popping in the top4 now and again, like us, Spurs etc. But I think that gap is getting smaller and smaller, team wise Us, Spurs, even Villa and City, and as good as Liverpool. And Chelsea didnt exactly rip us apart like they used to, the gap is getting smaller.

If even you can find nice things to say about the Murderers, it's little wonder the ITV goons have their cocks out every time they're on the telly. Sort yourself out, man.

Can anyone explain to me the widespread media indignation at the suggestion he might get the sack? Phew! Glad I got that off my chest! aye, depends on how you define the top/big 4 4 teams qualify for the champions league now, them four are generally Liverpool and the other 3 Liverpool and the other 3 generally win the FA Cup Liverpool and the other 3 generally win the Carling Cup Liverpool and Utd have won the Champions League in the last 10 years Arsenal have got to a final, Chelsea a semi Liverpool haven't won a title, perhaps that doesn't make them as big as the other 3 but Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Utd are the teams who season in season out compete on all 4 fronts -league, fa cup, carling cup, champs league hence the big 4

If you've not seen any Everton delusion over the years, you must be new to football. I was talking about this season really... if Everton fans have been rather chirpy of late then it's with good cause. I too would make that bet, not surprising given what Liverpool have spent over the last 5-10 years, and will spend in the next 5-10 years. All the more reason why it would be good if Everton could force the fat waiter into 5th place and forced unemployment.
January 25, 200818 yr aye, depends on how you define the top/big 4 4 teams qualify for the champions league now, them four are generally Liverpool and the other 3 Liverpool and the other 3 generally win the FA Cup Liverpool and the other 3 generally win the Carling Cup Liverpool and Utd have won the Champions League in the last 10 years Arsenal have got to a final, Chelsea a semi Liverpool haven't won a title, perhaps that doesn't make them as big as the other 3 but Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Utd are the teams who season in season out compete on all 4 fronts -league, fa cup, carling cup, champs league hence the big 4 Liverpool have been an average of 22 points short of winning the title in the last five seasons, and they only get that close because they made a better-than-normal fist of it in 2006. If only three teams qualified for the Champions League, would folk still harp on about a Big Four? Christ, if it went back to the way it was when Liverpool ruled Europe they'd barely scrape into the UEFA Cup most seasons.
January 25, 200818 yr FFS Enzo, I don't like them either but you've lost this one pal. Would a compromise be 'Liverpool, 4th best of the big four'?
January 25, 200818 yr FFS Enzo, I don't like them either but you've lost this one pal. Would a compromise be 'Liverpool, 4th best of the big four'? Bolty, I think Enzo means Liverpool are 4th of the Big Three.
January 25, 200818 yr It always used to be the "big six", now it's the "big four". Thatcher's Britain for you.
