Patricia Amos, of Banbury, Oxfordshire, was sentenced on Tuesday to 28 days in prison for letting her daughter Jacqueline, 14, miss classes. Amos, 45, was found guilty by Bicester magistrates in February. She had been sentenced to 60 days in 2002 after failing to stop her other child, Emma, then 15, from truanting. After that sentence, Amos told the BBC: "I know for a fact that something good has come out of something bad. "I'm going to make sure everyday that somebody knows that I have taken them to school. "I'm going to go out of my way... There's no way I want to spend anymore time in prison." On Tuesday, Amos' solicitor Chris Edwards said in court that he feared his client was being made a national scapegoat. He added that Amos, a former drug addict who receives methadone treatment, had found the "intrusive, excessive media interest" in her case stressful. At her hearing in February, Amos argued she had made "every effort" to get Jacqueline to school.

March 24, 200422 yr ragging hell why not just shoot the lower classes and be done with it! when i take my kid to school every day i see kids who are obviousley brought up in disfunctional families ,scruffy unwashed clothes and hair,parents telling em to "shut the fcuk up" busy talking about who got pissed at weekend ignoring anything the kids have to say about that day at school,nobody wants to help em (the kids i mean) but when they grow up into bad teens causing shit we just wanna lock em up or worse. March 24, 200422 yr When I was teaching there were a small minority of kids who were little shits and their parents obviously didn't give a chuff about getting them into school. The days they wagged it, I used to go down on my knees in the staff room and praise the lord. Having said that though if you made a bit of an effort with them, they'd really surprise you. I probably wouldn't get away with this now, but I knew I was leaving and never going back to teaching, so to be honest I didn't give a shit but I took over this class of Year 11 scrotes at Christmas. They'd all just failed their mocks miserably and they had Her Majesty's Pleasure and teenage pregnancy written all over them. First thing I said to them if you don't want to pass your exam and you're just going to piss about, don't bother coming in - I ain't going to be keeping a register - I don't give a shit if you pass or not, come July I'll never set a foot in another school so its no skin off my nose. If you're serious and you want to pass I'll help you. I thought that would get rid of a good half of them. I put on extra lessons at dinner time (fcuk knows what I was thinking about) and nearly all of the feckers turned up - couldn't believe it. Two lads I never saw again but the rest passed. In a strange way I was quite chuffed. Still rather shovel a load of shit out of a bath than teach again though.

I came from a one parent family living in atherton, never had the rockports etc mind, but because my nan and dad had decent standards they rubbed off, and they didnt need a social worker or probation officer to point them in the right direction. how often can folk lend them a hand only for it to be bitten off?
