In one of my rare defences of Allardyce, things did start going slowly wonky after the January window in 2006 when we had a chance of finishing 4th.

Did he give a reason why he left the club he loves so much in the lurch with a couple of massive games to play and still not in Europe?, or about the long break he told us all he was looking forward to and spending time with his family and then a couple of weeks later turning up at Newcastle?
