The Vultures Are Circling...

http://www.thisislancashire.co.uk/sport/fo...s_at_reebok.php

Wanderers have turned down Ipswich Town's request to take Abdoulaye Meite on loan until the end of the season. The Ivory Coast defender, whose future at the Reebok looks bleak after he refused to come out for the second-half of the Manchester United game at Old Trafford, flew home to France at the weekend.

I think the main point about Davies is his contribution to the team. And there can be little doubt that90% of the time his impact is a positive one.

Please explain why it is a positive one Spider, I look at the stats and the way we play, and I fail to see why.

if you think i've said that, it renders all your opinions worthless as you're quite clearly blind or else just inventing shite

ps davies can't finish for toffee these days but thats a different argument

one you're quite clearly unable to grasp

So all my stats are wrong then? I tell you what sweety, convince me that I am talking shite, instead of being childlike in your arguments, if you are mentally able to.

When has been able to finish for us? His best season was 10 when he first came here.

i didn't say you were

i gave you two choices, (inventing shite or blind) as you said i was setting davies up as some sort of superstar

something i quite clearly (to anybody with a brain) didn't say

anyway, as for his finishing

10 is perfectly acceptable

itd put him ahead of rooneys record, in a much better team, this season at united - maybe youd not pick him for our team either, unless of course you'd consider his other attributes worthy of getting a shirt

you'd drop him too?

and when somebody puts in 'main strengths' doesn't score many and worst fouler in the league, and claims to be being objective i tend to lose the will to bother with em

over and out

If KD is (and he is) the most fouled player in the PL, then surely that means he is indirectly creating more goalscoring opportunities for the team, since we only look like scoring from a set piece.

ie if you think KD isn't going to score, then surely it's better that he wins a free kick we might score from. It then can't be his fault when Diouf ( who mustn't be criticised because every loves him!) or Taylor f?ck it up.

Well, you could try looking up sarcastic for a start.

And you seem to like saying people are talking shite, and yet never then back it up with facts. If you have lost the will to bother than fine, perhaps the board will get more discussions rather than childishness.

I don't think that is correct, he does get sinned against a hell of a lot, but they are rarely in goal scorring areas of the pitch. The problem with Davies is that he likes the physical battle, but isn't any good a hiding this aspect of his game. His type of centre forward play went out with the tough tackling defenders, when uefa etc made it a far less physical game.

I understand your second point, however, I am trying to say that after what has happened this season, especially they way teams defend against him, he should have been dropped many games ago, and someone else given a chance. The issue now is, because of our reliance on him, no other forward has been gven enough games or chances to do the job, regardless of how lazy, crap, uninterested the likes of Braaten, Vaz Te, Razsiak, Harsanyi etc people believe. Mobility i sthe key in this modern game, and we are lacking this especially upfront.

You're losing your audience a bit here Muzzle old chap.

As Casino pointed out, you wouldn't pick Rooney based on stats, but stats will never show the look of relief on most defenders' faces when 90 minutes against KD is over. Fact is, he's very important for us in terms of giving our somewhat beleaguered midfield a respite on occasions. He still weighs in with essential goals and his fighting spirit are (should be) an inspiration to other players.

However, Muzzle, I'm sure you'll prove me wrong and tell me who should be playing instead...?

Okay, but I am sure Rooney has scored more goals...if you like, we could compare Rooney to Davies on speed, agility, passing, first touch and physical proweness...Davies would only win on the physical aspect, and even then it ends in a foul.

Which essential goals are we talking about?

Davies has become important to us, because our managers (not lee), are bereft of any ideas when it comes to playing football. Last two years under allardce were bloody terrible to watch, because he wanted to play aimless long balls......under megson, it is far worse.

As for a change upfront, it is far too late now, Davies should have been dropped months ago, and other given the same consistant number of matches to prove themselves, but then again, opinions on other strikers are based on appearances here and there....and then ultimately, the great decision not to get a lita, defoe, benjani, healy, whoever (anyone better than Razsiak) in, will also ultimately cost us a place in the premier league

Actually it was me who stated I was trying to be objective but never posted the other things Casino has mentioned. However, I think Muzzle has also been justifying his thoughts on the matter but people choose not to challenge this in the debate..

These posters are completely subjective on the matter and look back on Davies' previous contributions and old player of the year awards as reasons for keeping him in the team. They don't however, articulate this in a civilised manner and just take to rubbishing the argument with no evidence at all.

Unless of course that evidence is KD is a top man who tries hard!!! or even worse taking Wenger, Beneitez and Ferguson at their word!!! Stating Davies is a handful & that we are big, strong and difficult to play against:; yet more cliche's that are 18 months out of date, just like Davies.

Objective

not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased: an objective opinion

PS. I still want to be eating humble pie when Super KD proves me wrong, I just can't see it happening.

Keep at it Muzzle

muzzle also stated he was being objective and then posted the stuff i referred to

davies played very well against portsmouth, not as a battering ram, as a very threatening forward player
