Valid point indeed BUT when we whimpered out to Croatia, he was one of the few who looked like he gave a running f?ck. If I'd have got my little mitts on Stevie Gerrard that night I'd have bit his nose off (with the aide of a stepladder), and I normally don't give much of a hoot about England. He might not be the fittest, he might not be playing in top competative games, he might have jetlag BUT with his skill and determination, I'd hope he'd be a better player than some of the arrogant c?nts who wear the shirt.

Although Beckham is semi retired he could still walk into the starting 11 blindfolded. When he plays England are twice as good as they are without him, that showed against Croatia going forward, even though we did get beat.

 

I don't agree with the lad going to america to play but the England side should be the best 11 english players out there and performances have shown Beckham is still one.

To be honest, the old guard of james, beckham, owen, neville (you know he will just walk back into the squad if fit)....need to be consigned to the annals of history. Every england squad always look to its past players, and we always come up short...pick a young talented squad, and let it play together for a couple of years, regardless of results, thn we will have a team to be proud of...in the mean time domestic football always comes first.

Thing is I don't care if he could still claim a place by rights due to the rest of the squad's inadequacies; the point is that it's his publicity machine that are pulling the strings, and that can't be right.

Absolutely spot on. Bentley, Walcott, Green, Agbonlahor, etc, should all be starting these games in my opinion. The shower of shite that let us down last time should be warming the bench.
