March 29, 200818 yr Jeysus some people have short memories Our problems started DURING the Allardyce era.
March 29, 200818 yr Tut tut For someone so on the ball as you Traf...I'm surprised by that. Allardyce was made to leave at that time. Ben Haim was gone anyway. And Lee destroyed the backroom, and the first team, at a fell stroke. Our problems stem from the post-Allardyce era, we can't blame him. 15 points won in the month of December 2006; 16 during the remainder of Sam's time here. Kind of suggests summat had gone tits up well before he left...

Totally agree....Allardyce was fantastic for us the first 3-4 years, but when he began to believe his own hype, it looked to me like he started to lose interest, and in the end, gartside actually did the right thing, in basically making him go......(yeah, I can't believe I just said gartside did the right thing)

Almost a year on after relative failure (he did come and hamnmer us at our ground and get more points for Newcastle than our managers got for us)he may have accepted that he won't get another glamour club and fancy another crack at Bolton. After his rest and relative failure at Newcastle he should be hungry to succeed again.
March 29, 200818 yr he has been knocked into his place the last few months if he has the pashion to take the job back that i would have him back. harry rednap went back to pompy after he went and swaned off to there arch rivals down the road and look how there doing now. forgive and forget one year of crazyness can be forgiven

March 29, 200818 yr I don't understand it when people blame Sam for today's problems. Yes, he had a disappointing end to his final season but a bad run of form is possible (and did happen in previous seasons) at any time. It is unfair to judge the man over such a short period within a very successful 8 years, in fact it is madness in my opinion. Was Brian Clough a bad manager because he had one bad season? No and it would be shortsigted and ridiculous to judge him on that one season alone and ignore his many more significant successes. My view is that it is our league position at the end of that season and UEFA Cup qualification for only the 2nd time in the Club's history that should be considered. For me that suggests that there is no way that Sam started the problems, except for him leaving of course which he had a right to do after such a long and successful stint with poor support from the Board and fans.

I dont believe it was Sams fault for our decline in the second part of last season - IMO he knew we had a week squad and wanted to strenghten but slimey gartside would not back his plans - thats probably why he left. The rest is history. He is probably the only manager who would want to come to Bolton who may make a difference and therefore (although the football is awful to watch with his tactics) I would welcome him back. No manager could have fu*ked us up more then Megson
March 29, 200818 yr No manager could have fu*ked us up more then Megson LSL? NB - Still naive alledgedly.

And it's been done to death. But I just don't see it that way. I'm sure we had some god awful spells before that (season before last springs to mind when we missed Europe) but he turned it around every single time. It's unprovable either way, I just don't think any terminal problems had set in. It's an excuse for Lee and Megson who have both been poor in the league. Lee especially should shoulder the blame, what he did to the club was criminal.
March 29, 200818 yr I would have him back tomorrow. If nothing else it would stop shits like meite deciding if he does or doesnt play, and i would bet arsehole wegner wouldnt feel as confident if BSA was in opposition to him today

It went tits up when Allardyce wasn't backed by the board in the January transfer window last year. Hardly his fault. The lack of ambition transcended a downer on the club thereafter.
