He brought us the greatest success this club has had in the modern era. 4 consecutive top 8 finishes and 2 UEFA Cup qualifications. Don't get me wrong, I ain't a massive fan of his but I don't know what more he could have done. If anyone os to blame alongside Sammy Lee, it is Gartside for the rushed appointment when the summer was only 2 weeks away.

He wasn't given enough time, so good old uncle Phil sacks the man who was in the process of changing the club from top to bottom and appoints this Ginger muppet who obviously walks in the dressing room and says "OK lads, how do we get results and get them buggers in the stands to like me?" "Simple they say, go back to playing kick and rush football just like we did under the big fat fella who went to Newcastle". OK then, that's what we will do. Oh look they're right, we've just beaten Man Yoo and drawn at Bayern Munich and they're all calling me the Ginger Mouriniho. Then just like under BSA, we got sussed. Teams knew how to play against us. The ageing BSA era players got older, slower and less able technically. And now we are in a bigger mess than when the final whistle blew against Chelsea at home.

I don't think anyone realised how regimented the players had become under Allardyce. It really shouldn't have been beyond them to adapt to a new system.

March 31, 200818 yr Sammy wanted to change to a better style etc, but did not possess the ability to take the players with him. May be should have learned his trade lower down like Allardyce and Brown to learn the pitfalls. Meson however has learned the pitfalls but still keeps jumping into them.
