I doubt there will be many people agree with me on this from reading lots of comments on here.

 

Firstly I should make it clear I have never been a big fan of Meite's footballing talent. I have been, for the most part , a little disappointed in how good a player we got when you consider how long Big Sam chased his signature.

 

At the moment though I have to say I have a little bit of sympathy for him. He was indeed responsible for both goals against Man U at Old Trafford. At the time I gave Megson a little credit for being bold enough to make the switch at half time for a player low on confidence.

 

It now appears to me that the 'manager' [ and I use the term loosely ] has frozen out a player for being honest enough to admit he didn't want to continue [ for whatever reason he gave ] making mistakes.

 

I my opinion it accurately shows up a huge fault of Megson that this story got out of the dressing room and his subsequent sulking. Can anyone tell me how it benefits the foootball club in it's current plight to relegate experinenced first team players to the reserves and obviously be stubborn enough to go with someone like Fojut and Joey O'Brien as cover instead!

 

No matter how badly you think of Meite I feel that Megson comes out of all this as the one who is not doing HIS job correctly. I also feel if I knew both people outside of football, it's the Frenchman I would prefer of the 2 personalities.

have to agree with you, I would rather have Meite in the fold than Megson, In my mind he is clearing the decks for relegation, any big name foreign player will be moved on and we will be left with mediocre championship players who megson feels comfortable in dealing with, Megson=small man, with small mind and an even smaller football talent as a player and a manager.

I agree with you. Meite has been simply awful this season but i have real sympathy for him. Megson is a cock, falls out with players everywhere he goes.

Correct. Megson is small time. The future is too depressing to think about.

Whatever his reasons... it was most definately better for the team that day! That's all I'm interested. Being worried about whether the foreign players are playing for Bolton Wanderers for the right reasons has long since passed for me. I worried about this because this is the way things are and lots of the best players these days [ that we like watching ] are like this. But Meite isn't a star performer - he's Johnny Average at best and has been performing badly at that. It's horses for courses and that's what good mgt is about.

 

Yes Allardyce etc make folk feel wanted, but they know that if it's all too fluffy the players would simply take the piss and players would lose respect if they knew they could get away with what they wanted - it's where the top Managers having ego's helps - take Jaap Stam (a very good player) being booted out of OT as an example.

In both cases - Beckham and Stam - their club went on to be stronger. I appreciate that it's a different kettle of fish at Old Trafford, but Megson needs players that are 100% behind getting the team out of relegation right now and Meite obviously isn't.
