Ahh, the World Cup (twas mention of Roger Milla elsewhere that triggered the memory). Remember getting ready on a Friday night in my bedroom for a stint in town, rolling a few reefers on my Kevin Keegan soccer annual...... and the Cameroon lads putting in 110% effort to deny the Argies and then having the cheek to actually win the game whilst reduced to 10 men... or was it 9?

 

Gazza against the Dutch. Platty's goal, Linekers 2 pens against the Africans. Waddle hitting the bar/post from his own half against the Germans....... that stupidly deflected Brehme free-kick that looped over Shilts.... the awesome feeling when Lineker equalised...... we were the best team in the tournament...... but we feckin' lost on spot kicks. Bummer!

 

And then it was off to Benidorm...... and the Boardwalk to see Neds Atomic Dustbin.

Twas indeed a fantastic year.. yours truly was born

1990 was indeed a great year imo, my favourite World Cup,decent music, and this country was just ...better
