July 28, 200817 yr We are going back to Reading with an improved offer for Harper.... Not a bad player IMO but I think we need someone a little more creative! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...15875-20674615/
July 28, 200817 yr Is it only me - but I can not recall a single piece of Reading action last season that featured Harper that even remotely impressed me. Infact, all I can remember of him is socks around his ankles wondering how the man he was supposed to be marking had just scored.
July 28, 200817 yr Scored a tasty goal against Liverpool is memory serves correct. But then Yatesy - how many times did you sit down and watch a Reading game? Not many BWFC players did more than chase shadows for most of last year either!

July 28, 200817 yr Infact, all I can remember of him is socks around his ankles wondering how the man he was supposed to be marking had just scored. By the same token, we'd have to get shut of Kevin Davies.
July 28, 200817 yr I would hope with Muamba or nolan playing a holding type role, Harper can use his pace and eye for goal without worrying what is happening behind him.

Infact, all I can remember of him is socks around his ankles wondering how the man he was supposed to be marking had just scored. I liked the little of what I saw, lung bursting runs from deep, past his forwards, and good finishes when he got there. Before Anelka we did well in terms of sharing goals around. With Harper, Nolan, Taylor, Riga in the midfield this side is shaping up to do similar. If Davies and Elmander chip in a respectable tally we'll be good to go... and not over reliant on one player... I hope we sign the lad.
July 28, 200817 yr Was a cracking goal against Boro. Stoppage time, great run from deep to beat the offside trap and cool as you like finish after giving the keep the eyes. Lad has pace & boundless energy. Pace is something we have been lacking for to long.
July 28, 200817 yr By the same token, we'd have to get shut of Kevin Davies. Getting shut of a player is not the point here I am questioning if spending ?5M on a player I can't recall much about from his two seasons in The Premiership is good business.
July 28, 200817 yr I am questioning if spending ?5M on a player I can't recall much about from his two seasons in The Premiership is good business. what's muamba got to do with it?
July 28, 200817 yr Getting shut of a player is not the point here I am questioning if spending ?5M on a player I can't recall much about from his two seasons in The Premiership is good business. i can't recal much about any reading player other than Hunt is an utter utter c?nt
July 28, 200817 yr what's muamba got to do with it? not referring to Muamba Zico!! 5 mil for Harper - thats what the improved offer is
July 28, 200817 yr not referring to Muamba Zico!! 5 mil for Harper - thats what the improved offer is yes, I know the same criteria applies to Muamba though (oh apart from he's had 1 premiership season, not 2)
July 28, 200817 yr not referring to Muamba Zico!! 5 mil for Harper - thats what the improved offer is I'm fairly sure transfer fees have basically doubled this summer (I'm fairly sure Zico knew you didn't mean Muamba either) So taking my utterly flimsy theory as gospel, this is the equivalent of a ?2.5m signing in old money, fair enough IMO, the lad has 2 years top flight experience under his belt and was one of their better players
July 28, 200817 yr Getting shut of a player is not the point here I am questioning if spending ?5M on a player I can't recall much about from his two seasons in The Premiership is good business. He was the only Reading player I noticed last year, 6 goals mostly last minute with a struggling club(I realise we may well be the same but still 6 crucial goals could have got us plenty more points.) And with prices reported of ?3mil in places because of a clause, he may well be a decent option, along with the growing Prem experience he has got.
July 28, 200817 yr id never seen cahill play didn''t realise what taylor was all about steinsson....who? i'm happy to trust mr megson over our goalkeeping coach
July 28, 200817 yr i'm happy to trust mr megson over our goalkeeping coach I am too but I am JSL that unlike the other players we have signed this summer, I know who Harper is and I have not seen anything in him that excites me.

July 28, 200817 yr eh? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1D2UGjbgzE Sorry, where are the headed goals from a corner, the tap in after a 6 yard box scramble - none of those goals on your YouTube link are any use to Bolton.
