April 11, 200917 yr Just put Sky Sports News on and see Megson comparing us to a corner shop and Chelsea as Sainsburys!! Why does he make comments like this?? I know he is probably right but surely this just makes Bolton fans hate him even more. He should be trying to get the players motivated not just nearly admitting defeat before a ball is even kicked!!
April 11, 200917 yr you don't half post some crap! pretty obvious that, compared to chelseas millions, we aren't in the same league
April 11, 200917 yr I'm sure he's got the lads motivated it's just a very different game to last weeks and I don't have an issue with him saying that. Edited April 11, 200917 yr by no balls

April 11, 200917 yr why? only them that want to be angered by owt that megson ever does, and they aren't worth bothering with Edited April 11, 200917 yr by Casino
April 11, 200917 yr Author But we are. I know but im just saying it could anger some fans No Balls. Especially when alot of fans allready dont like him so this is just another excuse to have a go.

I'm a bit confused - you say he's "probably right" - but you don't like him saying so? Perhaps he is using the analogy of David and Goliath - were the rank outsider beat the odds on favourite? Why damn Megson for everything he says? I just don't get it?
April 11, 200917 yr in as many words hes saying dont expect much today, we are playing against a club with money to burn. Megsons mind games may work, have faith Id rather get a result being underdogs, it would be boring run of the mill for Chelsea to beat us in the eyes of their fans

He probably will be using the David and Goliath analogy. We are 12/1 for a win - Massive outsiders. Im not having a go at Megson here, im just saying that alot of people dont like him and him saying comments like that just gives them further ammunition

I know what you're aaying, hence I edited my post, but I think whatever he says he'll get slated by a certain section, and vice versa, whatever he says will be admired by some. Thing is though, part of his job it to speak to the media and comments like he's made are quite clich?d and fair enough in my book. If we get owt today (which I doubt) he can come on after and say how brilliant it was.

Im not having a go at Megson here, im just saying that alot of people dont like him and him saying comments like that just gives them further ammunition Well some folk don't like to be proved wrong - they decided even before Megson got here that he was a crap manager - and despite him saving us from the near certainty of relegation last season - and twelfth in the league this (only 3 points short of the 40 mark with seven games to go) - they still can't accept that their judgement of him might not actually have been spot on! If folks want to be bloody minded and carry on moaning about Megson - then let them - most reasonable people will have given Megson at least a little bit of respect by now.

I think he has done a great job and built a great English backbone. Im looking forward to see who he buys in the summer
April 11, 200917 yr Problem Megson has is he tells the truth and you know what they say, some people cant handle the truth!!
April 11, 200917 yr I posted this on another site a few days back - but I think it is relevant here - ...lets just look at the careers of the other managers who were available when Megson was appointed - Paul Jewell - took Derby down then resigned when things didn't get any better in the second division - currently without a job. Graeme Souness - without a job when Megson was appointed - still without a job 18 months later! Chris Coleman - manager of Spanish second division side Real Sociedad - did not get them promoted (as expected) - he quit and joined second division side Coventry City - not got them promoted either! Steve Bruce - Relegated Birmingham - got them back up - but left to join Wigan - leaving Birmingham to get relegated again! Rated highly by some - but Bruce's Wigan are only 4 points better of than Megson's Bolton (after 31 games this season). I can't understand how some people think Bruce is doing a wonderful job and Megson a crap one - yet there is only four points difference between them with three quarters of the season having been played? Anyway the point I'm making is that out of all those available to us at the time Megson was appointed - non of them have actually gone on to achieve anything special. On reflection I can't see who would have done better than Megson?

It's called an analogy. Infact I would go as far as to say we are Open All Hours and Chelsea are Harrods.

April 11, 200917 yr why? only them that want to be angered by owt that megson ever does, and they aren't worth bothering with Do you not think that Megson uses the 'corner shop, Bolton are a small time crap club type comments etc, as an advance excuse of not getting a result, and hopefully he won't be compared with Allardyce's far superior record. He says above 37 points is progress from last season, i think a lot of people don't like the way he conveniently has reference points only post BSA. Whilst the backroom staff may have been in disarray he certainly inherited a good squad of players that comfortably could get 50 points minimum. Edited April 11, 200917 yr by DeanoH
