and also a poor manager

What about the English manager who finished above him? :pardon:

McClaren???

There again a good club manager just a very poor international manager

Also with Van Basten it all depends upon which league he manages in. Some may say he is poor in the Eredvisie (but finishing 3rd in that, is not poor!) but he could actually be even better in other League - possibly La Liga, or even Bundesliga

Isn't finishing 3rd in the Eredivisie (Edam Cheese League for ths not familar with the Dutch language) with either of Ajax or PSV, not considered as bad as finsihing 3rd in Scotland with one of the Auld Firm?

3rd is shite in that league, I don't care what anyone says.

so finishing about 12th is very poor, then?

I'm not 100% sure what you're getting at, but I'll wager a guess and feel free to correct me if I get anything wrong.

You're intimating that we'll finish about 12th this season and that will be very poor (probably because we've such a shit ginger tosser of a manager).

If that's your (predictably tedious) point: I'd say you were wrong.

12th in the PL for Bolton (in a period of transition too) isn't very poor at all. It's not as good as we'd hoped for, but way better than many expected. All in all, it's a reasonable finish and it's progress from last year: a sprigboard fro a top 10 finish next season.

How did I do, Dutch Cap?

PS Don't bother replying, because I can't be fucking arsed with you anymore. Go and play on the railway.

COMPLETELY WRONG, MATE!

I was refering to the fact that someone said that finishing 3rd was poor.

Love to see Bolton finish 3rd, but will probably never happen, no matter who is in charge.

In fact, for this season, I am grateful for finishing 12th as it could have easily been much worse, but, yes, we could have finished in a higher position (although there are still 3 games to go and we could still finish higher).

I will still argue the fact that its not really an improvement on last year - just about same level, as this season's PL has been very poor. Just hope next season we can do even better!

I honestly do not care who is in charge, btw, but Megson's statistics are not that good at his previous clubs.

And yes, my ambition for the club is to try to compete with the Big 4 (its not manadory) but it is a dream!

Aye Willem II should sack Alfons Groenendijk immediately

What was your point then? There's no correlation between the EPL and Eredivisie. Like highlighted earlier, the best you could probably do is compare it with the SPL.

Anyone who thought we would do better that we have this season is a bit thick in my book. Ever heard the phrase 'steadying the ship'. Bolton were a club in textbook freefall and we have somehow scraped it and added some quality players to build a squad around. Last season we hung on for dear life with a squad that was neither here nor there.

I presume the only improvement you class as worthy is that of the league positioning? Look at the bigger picture, pal!

I guess it cannot be compared to Scotland as that is a 2-team league.

Holland is a 3-team league of Ajax, PSV & Feyenoord.

Okay, every now and then another team pops into the equation briefly.

But in the main one of the big 3 has to finish 3rd (same goes for Portugal).

The equivalent for us is the top 4 - when Liverpool finished 5th it was classed as a disaster.

12th for Bolton this season would be tremendous.

Somebody took the time to point out on Sunday to me that we've more points, won more games and are higher up the league than last season.

Yet we're not progressing, lack imagination and have no ambition.

Funny old game Saint.

Now then that Bundesliga looks fun. Dif team appears to be top each and every week.

possibly the bloke who said 'all the teams below us have better players and play better football, but we're above them' he was adamant that this was a bad thing?

I'd love someone like Van Basten at the club just for the feel good factor and extra pull to attract players we'd get, no idea if he's any good as a manager like.

I think he would be completely out of his depth in The Premiership. Its far too fast for his style of football.

That wouldn't make a difference to some folk. In fact, I'd say, for some it is a completely irrelevent qualification as long as Megson went!

The fact that he sounds a bit foreign would be good enough for some folk.

He doesn't have much experiance maybe be in a couple of more year yeah.
