Me go off at tangents!

I missed your original oblique point - I'm sorry if it upset you.

I went on to comment that there as been a clear change in recruitment policy at Bolton - surely you must agree that?

You then gave me a list of players names who you inferred we got simply because they lost their form - I disagreed.

Mark Davis you claimed - here's what Wolves said at the time!

"We actually want to keep him and have offered him a new deal, but he doesn?t want to stay and has put in a transfer request.

So, if there?s a deal that can be done, then it could happen.

It?s a real shame because he has come through our Academy and is a good player, but hadn?t played for almost two years due to injury.

He eventually gets fit and goes out to Leicester and has done well and now wants to leave.?

Now tell me again how we got him because he had a dip in form???

So what do you do - claim I only deal in Wiki Stats - thanks - no going off at a tangent there then!

Oh but I only know about the players through reading about them - but you know their form how? You didn?t go watching them did you?

You then tell me I talk crap and tell me I've dug myself a hole over the three released loan players? Really? Smolarek is going to Aris - do you really think he'd be going there if he was just out of form rather than not being good enough at a higher level?

I didn't disagree at all that in the past we have done very well out of getting players off form - very well indeed - but these players you claim - Mark Davis for instance - simply do not fit that pattern.

You really seemed to have got a bee in your bonnet about me simply because I disagreed with your assessment of how good Distin is!

Excellent post sluffy, you have certainly put the expert who thinks Elmander had a good season in his place.

I disagree with you and would sign Distin but well played outbantering the moron who gets the hump and turns nasty every time anyone disagrees with him ::lol::

well played outbantering the moron

can you "outbanter" somebody?

Dunne = Good pace, good defending, although can make a few errors time to time which are very costly.

Distin = Rejected us before, has a a difficult season with them not conceding many since hart took over.

Would of thought they would be the same price just distin wins it probably with experience.

I don't know the facts, but I wouldn't have thought that Disitn was anymore experienced in the PL than Dunne is, Dunne is also a year or two younger I believe, so I would go for Dunne, if we had a choice like

On the original point I'm with Garp - I believe Distin would be an excellent signing and a good experienced "head" to play alongside Cahill - I'm sure he could teach him a thing or two to add to his game - Cahill does make rash decisions and someone with experience and quality could help to "complete" him, because as good as he is, Cahill aint quite there yet.

I'd take Distin over Dunne, but be pleasantly surprised should we sign either.

Can I also point out, IMO Garp and Sluffy are being as bad as each other with this and I'd go further and add -

Yes our recruitment policy has changed somewhat, but we're still not in the position to buy many if any players from Premiership clubs that are their club's 1st choice in that position.

Yes we can from foreign top leagues as we'll pay more and obviously from lower league clubs.

he's probably better than Cahill at this moment in time.

He's not a bad player, but if he was that good he'd have been snapped up by a 'big' club. And not Pompey, Toon and Man Shitty.

His pace gets him out of a lot of his mistakes, as he's as clumsy as AOB.

Right, so I got one wrong about who had lost their form, that still doesn't change the fact that 3 of our last 4 signings were in this position.

It doesnt change the fact Samuel and Mccan both lost their form.

It doesnt change the fact that Veloso has lost his form.

I do not have a problem whatsoever about someone not thinking Distin is good enough, I just think your talking absolute bollocks that we should stay clear of anyone who has lost form and that is what we have been doing, because its just wrong.

as would Jussi

Two different players, two different positions, two different people.

Distin is a good player, I'll agree with you on that, but he's not that good.

thats like saying his right foot gets him 40 a season but his left is shit

similar was said about gardner who for a season was the best left back in the league

it aint a crime having and using pace

Just what is your problem?

If you take the trouble to read what I actually said I never claimed Distin was currently out of form -

Found his form again under Hart but might no longer be as good as many of here think he is.

?but that in my opinion his best days are now behind him - is ?3 million for a centre back who will be 32 this year, and who HAD been out of form last season a good investment?

Do we have loads of money to be able to take the risk?

Oh and thanks for accepting your knowledge of players form in respect of Mark Davis was faulty - bit of a staggering admission from someone so knowledgeable as your good self to someone like me who just talks crap and only knows about Wiki football stats!

Must have been a bit embarrassing for you!

I'm sure that Makakulu, Pugrenyier and Smolarek will prove your superior knowledge about players and their form, but wait isn't one of them just signed for some mid table Greek club - Jesus he really must be out of form (four clubs in four different country's in four years) and not successful in any of them so far!

I'm sure you're right and class will tell in the end and that Makakulu, Pugrenyier will be snapped up by some European giant or other - a bollocks talking Wiki football stats know nothing surely can't embarrass you again?

Christ just think if he was right about Samuel and McCann being dropped because O'Neil bought better players to play in place of them - how humiliating would that be!

:pardon:
