reeto, numpty question of the day.

 

young 'un turns 1 in a couple of days, so i bought myself a new car as a reward

 

new car has isofix so looking a car seat for him.

 

any serious suggestions from you lot, because im fooking lost.

 

i think this is the idea...

 

 

...but would prefer one with out the plastic base if possible, dont want to be ruining my nice new leather. plus i dont see the point of the seat being removable from the base anyway???

 

so come on, you may enlighten me.

Think the removal thing is that, for very young kids, the seat bit goes onto a pushchair frame so the two are interchangeable. HTH

Never bothered with the Isofix type.

 

Seemed bloody expensive, especially when we have been reusing the equipment of our eldest with our second born.

nipper is kipping in the car seat, you arrive and take the seat with you meaning you don't have to wake nipper up

I dont think the seat above will stand without the base though, and even if it did, he wouldnt be sleeping...

But the chair will work without the 'base' using the belt straps - but then it's not 'isofixed' it's just a normal car seat using belt straps

 

I think you have to have the base, guess the idea is you don't have to buy different bases all the time, and like folk have said, can lift out the seat easily

Used an ISOFIX for the past few years with my two. I found them fookin tricky to line up at the same time with the anchorage points, but if your not taking them out much that wont be any moither. Very easy to use when set up and dont slide about on leather like other child / booster seats. The one your looking at looks better than mine with the detatchable base, this will help you line up the fixings.

Whatever you get make sure you get one that reclines properly - if you're on a long journey you don't want the little bugger's head lolling all over the shop.

 

That's what the base will be for - the seat will slide down in the base to recline - at the age of one it won't be one of those that comes away from the base to carry.

 

Edit - actually looking at the picture that's exactly the one we had - seat is attached to the base but lets it recline properly

bought one above, should be here in a couple of days.

Homejay if you have leather seats you should put something under the baby seat to stop it sliding. I've got one that I used for my kids but they are all too big now.
