I actually filled up watching the tribute on Sky News.

God Bless him.

Good job he wasn't a bolton fan who asked people to sit down.

Certainly felt more emotion watching that than I did when the kiddie fiddler croaked the other week.RIP.

The last one, but we should also remember the millions before him.

not quite the last one Harry Patch is still going & is now the old man in Britain. Strange thing to say about somone who's still living but he should be given a state funeral when he goes & joins his chums in the sky

RIP Soldier!!

I'm not sure if it was france who did this when their last WW1 vet passed away.

according to my research there's 2 Brits from WW1 still out there batting - Harry Patch and Claude Choules who now lives in Australia.

RIP

I see Harry's gone now - another top innings =D>

Germany's 'last' WWI veteran dies

The man believed to have been Germany's last World War I veteran has died peacefully at the age of 107.

But in a country that keeps no record of its veterans, Kaestner's death on 1 January, 2008 went largely unnoticed.

France's last surviving veteran of World War One, Lazare Ponticelli, has died at the age of 110. (March 2008)
