I'm about to be given one of these with a new job, but am I as well telling them I want a regular PC laptop instead?

I've little to arse all experience with a mac, though the shiny gayness of it does appeal on some strange level.

Style over substance, Jimmy, I like that. I reckon you should get it just to look like you're down with the kids! :good:

get one

it'll save you wearing the 'i am gay' badge

Touche!

I don't need the badge, my handlebar moustache and leather hotpants are enough.

Are you crazy?

Honestly Macs shit all over PC's. You can't pick up virus's for a start....

Can you elaborate on that? Or did you hear it from a bloke in the pub.

Thats my thoughts exactly, people keep telling how amazing Macs are but i'm yet to understand it.

Granted Apple's marketing and the products look great, but is there much else to them?

I was commenting on the "can't pick up viruses bit". I was hoping for a technical explanation.

Bit blunter than Carlos, but, "Wanna bet on it?" :pardon:

Don't believe what you hear/read.

Not had a virus yet.

I was wrong is saying they can't

lifted from somewhere else

all known viruses are written for the MS-DOS/Windows NT kernel. Not for the Mac OS X UNIX kernel. A mac can get a virus if one was made for it. But so far a mac DOESN'T get viruses and spyware simply because viruses and spyware don't work on a mac.

I've got a macbook pro through work. Once you own a macbook you never go back. In my opinion anyway.

Would agree fully with that.

I've never had the misfortune of working on a PC, so don't know what I'm missing/gaining.

Can only comment on people who have switched to Mac - all have said they wouldn't go back.

You can't go from being straight to gay, then back again.

Alternatively (and surely obviously) install windows on your macbook.......Clicky!!

so is the jist of this that Macs are for Gayers, and PC's are for normal folk?

  • 2 weeks later...

or put a MAC OS on a windows box by using PearPC.

From straiht to gay and back no problem.

Had it for a week and a half now, and I've got to say its a joy to use. No where near as difficult to make the change from pc to mac as i thought. Seem to be much more intuitive.

But how's your ringpiece?

Fair comments,

As a web designer, I've got virtual machine installed to combat ie6 and so on. I still think WW do a great job in keeping up though.

For me though, PC's are a pain in the arse, where as Macbook's are like the pain in the arse you wish you had.

If that makes sense, probably not, super whites 1 - 0 bruce's babe's. My prediction with k.davies getting an early first half header.
